i say volume 1 to my s1 but it does not go lower enough I then have to manually take the volume down

Unfortunately Alexa’s volume range is 1-10 so 1 is actually 10% volume. But if you lower the Volume Limit percentage of your speaker in the Sonos app to around 50%, when you ask Alexa to change the volume to 1, she will lower the volume according to the new Volume Limit percentage rather than 100%.
