Hi, I have been trying to set up Alexa on my Sonos Roam (since Google Assistant could never discover my device, which is a whole separate issue), to play Spotify but whenever I tell Alexa to play Spotify, it says I have to enable the skill in the Alexa app, which I have already done.

Spotify is set up in the Alexa app as well as default music service, and in the Sonos Mobile App as music service, both are set up with the same Spotify Premium account. No matter what I do, Alexa can’t find the spotify skill for some reason. I say “Alexa, Play Spotify” and it says “To do that, enable the skill for the Sonos Roam in your Alexa App, then ask me to discover devices.” The Sonos Skill is enabled, and there are no devices to be discovered when I ask it to.

I’m so very lost, do I need to contact Amazon since this is an issue with Alexa? Or can this be solved here?

Hello @MadhuAnand, welcome to the Sonos Community!

I am sorry to hear you are experiencing trouble setting up Amazon Alexa on your Sonos system to play Spotify.

Please have a look at our Support Article Set up Amazon Alexa with a voice-enabled Sonos speaker.

I say “Alexa, Play Spotify” and it says “To do that, enable the skill for the Sonos Roam in your Alexa App, then ask me to discover devices.” The Sonos Skill is enabled, and there are no devices to be discovered when I ask it to.

I believe this is referred to the Sonos Skill in the Amazon Alexa app. You could try some troubleshooting steps from our Support Article Alexa commands not working on Sonos.

Most importantly try the Advanced fix below:

  • Open the Alexa app on your iOS or Android device.
  • Select the More menu in the bottom right.
  • Go to Skills & Games > Your Skills > Sonos > Disable Skill.
  • Deregister your Sonos speaker from Alexa by following the instructions on Amazon's website: Deregistering a device.
  • Disable Voice Control in the Sonos app.
  • Go to the
  •  Settings menu.
  • Under System Settings, select Voice Assistants.
  • Choose the voice-enabled product from the list of Sonos Products, and then select Remove Alexa.
  • Log out of all Amazon Apps on the mobile device, including the Amazon app, Alexa app, and Amazon.com in your mobile browser. This ensures Alexa uses the correct Amazon account.
  • Using the Sonos app, complete Alexa setup again. Follow the steps to log into the appropriate Amazon account when prompted to do so.
  • Once completed, try giving Alexa another command.

You can also reach out to our Support team for live troubleshooting as they can guide you through the setup and answer any further questions you may have.

I hope this helps.
