Question

I cannot connect Alexa to my Sonos One

I have had my Sonos One device for 6 years and have never been able to connect Alexa to it. I recently tried again and it still will not connect.
When it prompts me to log into my Amazon account it says my email address is already in use on another account. I have checked the devices under this Amazon account and there is nothing there for me to delete. There are no devices at all linked to my account.

I have factory reset my device, the app, tried to create a new Amazon account (not possible without a new phone number) and am still unsuccessful. I am very close to giving up again, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Do you have more than one Sonos account?

Are you sure you’re not using a Sonos One SL. If so you cannot setup a voice assistant. Look under the bottom it will read “One SL”.

Hi @emilybr

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

I’m sorry to hear about this issue you are having with adding Alexa to your Sonos system.

A single Alexa account can only be associated with one Sonos system or account - it does sound, as @106rallye alluded to, that you may have already associated Alexa to a different Sonos account - did you ever have a different Sonnos account from the one you have now, perhaps only used for a minute or two during an aborted setup attempt after your first Sonos purchase? Your mention of repeated fails to add Alexa makes this sound quite likely.

Either way, I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports.

I hope this helps.
