Question

alexa Plus and volume - expected behaviour?

Hi - I’ve been using Echo Dots for years to control my many Sonos devices.  I have set up groups in the Alexa app, so I don’t have to say the room / group name each time.  So I could say ‘Alexa play Rumours’ and it would play on the Sonos in the room I was in.  I could also say ‘Alexa volume up’ and this would be applied to the correct Sonos speaker. All as expected.

I now have Alexa Plus.  The first command, above, works as before.   But now any command to change volume is applied to both the Echo device and the Sonos device.  I now have to specify the room name to ensure volume is only applied to the Sonos speaker.
so I just want to check if this is now the new expected behaviour or not?
many thanks

Andrew

You probably want to ask that question of Alexa+ support.  Obviously, nothing on the Sonos side is going to be a factor in controlling the volume of your echo dot.  That said, reviewing this document may help, although it was written for Alexa, not Alexa +.

Personally. I haven’t used Amazon to control my Sonos for years, opting for Sonos Voice control instead.  I still have Alexa+ in my home, but I use it for general information and other smart home control, not for controlling Sonos.
