I had a similar issue with Alexa on a smart speaker before. Since Alexa confirms that the station is playing but there is no audio, I'd first check the Sonos app to make sure the speaker isn't muted and that the volume is responding normally. It may also be worth unlinking and reconnecting the Alexa/Sonos skill, then trying the same station directly from the Sonos app to see whether the problem is limited to Alexa.

What radio station? Which service carries it? Has it worked before? Which Sonos OS are you using? Which voice command system are you using? Have you submitted a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it?

Remember submitting a diagnostic does nothing until you contact support to have it looked at.

@stevemg

If you play a station via Alexa on Sonos, I recommend the following steps.

  1. Disable and re enable the Alexa skill of the station or the used radio service within Alexa app.

  2. Also re enable the Sonos skill within Alexa app.

  3. If the first two steps won’t help, remove Alexa service from the Sonos room within Sonos app and add it again.

  4. Next option would be to delete the Sonos device from your Amazon accounts device list via web browser and also remove the Sonos device/room within Alexa app.

I’ve had that happen on occasion. It’s typically nothing to get overly concerned about. However you can…

  1. Check the station status at this site: https://status.sonos.com *
  2. Trying playing to a different Sonos speaker to determine if the issue is localized
  3. Try the steps suggested by @Schlumpf

In most instances the issue corrects itself in short duration.

 * If the station is part of larger service like iHeart Radio check the parent service

You know, a short anecdote might be useful, too. I have a favorite set up to play a San Francisco sports radio station’s baseball games. Somehow, I accidentally got connected to Sonos Radio, which uses TuneIn. TuneIn doesn’t pay for MLB broadcast rights, so I was getting the pre-roll advertising, then nothing, as the station was currently broadcasting a baseball game. No indication from Sonos Radio, TuneIn, or the stream that it wasn’t being carried, just silence. Once I switched back to my iHeart Radio favorite, I received the content, as iHeart Radio has paid for broadcasting rights with MLB, whereas TuneIn has not. It was a bit confusing, until I looked at my controller to see what streaming system was in use. Lesson learned, always check your source. It may not be as you think it is.
