I understand that Sonos will release the ability to access Alexa in Canada in the near future. However, I just want to make sure that it is an app update and that I don’t have to purchase a new Sonos One. I bought it solely because it said it had Alexa built in; which it doesn’t.
Christie, have you already purchased a Sonos One? Or do you have other Sonos products? If you have a Sonos One then the Alexa / Sonos Alexa skills will be available once the skill is available in Canada, your current Sonos One will support it. If you have other Sonos products you will need a Amazon Echo device (Dot, Echo or Echo Plus) in order to use Alexa with Sonos, of course, once Sonos has made the Sonos Alexa skill available in Canada. My understanding from other posts here is the Sonos Alexa skill will be available "early 2018".
And yes, it will be a software update, not a hardware update.
