Hi,

For about a 6-9 month now my sonos arc has been acting up. The sound suddenly disapear and I have to reset the entire county power grid to get it back. I have tried wired connection to my router and static IP.

Also while playing from spotify there is a lottery if the music ever comes on. Imagine when you have some company over and is supposed to set the mood and you start fidgeting with “how the fuck do I get the music on this junk”.

You cant cast music to the arc/”room” if the tv is not on.

Really unstable system. I cant really recommend this to anyone.

Nothing ever work on this piece of junk.

Anyone with the same problems?

Sonos Arc, Sub Gen3 and Sonos one SL

My Arc, two Sub’s, and Era 300’s are fine.  You say that you have tried multiple connections, what is your current setup and specifically:

  1. Do you have a device connected via Ethernet cable?
  2. If you stand next to your Arc, what is your wi-fi strength on your mobile phone?
  3. Have you had any power cuts recently?
  4. Have you rebooted your router and then your Arc?

  1. I have an Arc with a Sub and Era 100 as surrounds. I have 9 speakers in all and all and the system is very stable. I still recommend Sonos all the time o friends and family. No one complains.
  2. If nothing ever works for you, maybe Sonos is not for you? FOMO is no reason to put up with a product the does not meet your expectations. I would sell my Sonos speakers in a heartbeat of it cause issues all the time.
  3. Most users do not have the issues you are having. There was a time when many did, but updates have resolved them. Ask yourself this: If every speaker is the same, my Arc is the same as yours and my Sub is the same as yours, what makes my system stable and your unstable?

There are only two things that are different: our homes and our networks. I live in a single family home, but people who live in apartments may have issues because there is so much network interference from neighboring WIFIs.

Yours is a classic case of your network not being configured correctly OR, you have a router that Sonos has issues with.

Can you tell us about your network so that we can make helpful suggestions?

There are three things that puzzle me in the first statement above. Firstly, that you waited 9 months to complain on these forums (or is this a strange way of asking for help?). Then, I’m surprised that you have access to the reset button on the county power grid. And finally, I’m surprised that resetting the power grid makes the sound come back.

On the second point, you can set up a streaming service which will work independently of the tv, so whether or not the tv is turned on your chosen source can be that streaming service. If you use an iPhone, Airplay 2 is also supported.

You’ve already had a couple of replies to your post. When you respond to them we might be able to help you create a more stable system than you’re currently experiencing.
