Play 1 and One compatibility

I have 2 x Play 1 speakers stereo paired and using the S2 app.  Can I but an additional single "one" and pair it with an old play 1 in stereo mode and put the other old single Play 1 some where else?

No, a Play:1 can only be stereo paired with another Play:1. A One can only be paired with another One or One SL. You can group a Play:1 with a One though.

A One cannot be stereo paired with a Play:1.

But in any case why would you want to stereo pair two non-identical speakers when you currently have two that are identical?

If you want to add voice control to the stereo pair room, just get a 2nd or 3rd gen Echo Dot for next-to-nothing (or GA equivalent)

OK. You could Airplay to the P:1 pair by grouping to the One (subject to layout and distances on your system).

Depending on your planned usage you might consider a Roam as an alternative.
