Dear members,

Currently, I own a Sony PS-LX310BT turntable, which already has a built-in preamplifier. At the moment, I don’t have any Sonos speakers yet, but I’d like to achieve the following setup:

• In my living room: an Arc, subwoofer, and 2 speakers for surround sound with the TV.

• One speaker in the kitchen, one in the bathroom, and one in my office.

My turntable is currently located in the living room, but I have the following questions:

1. If I use a Sonos Port, can I watch TV with the audio playing through the speakers in the living room, while my wife listens to music from the turntable in other rooms?

2. Can I also play the turntable audio through the speakers in the living room while the TV is off?

3. Is the Port the best choice for this setup, or are there better options?

I also read about the Era 100, which supports Bluetooth. However, I’m unsure whether, if I use the Era 100 during TV viewing, my wife would still be able to listen to the turntable in another room if it’s paired with the speakers in the living room.

I look forward to hearing from you.

The Port will act as an individual zone. So you can play TV audio through your Arc setup while the turntable audio is played through any (or all) of the other speakers.

The TV doesn’t have to be on to play the turntable audio to the Arc setup.

If you don’t want to add any more speakers to your living room, the Port is a great option for a clean setup with a small footprint. But if you don’t mind adding an extra speaker to the living room, the Era 100 will work too.

NOTE: You do not want to use the Era 100 as a TV speaker (except using them as surrounds). And if you use a pair of Era 100s as surrounds with the Arc, the line-in and Bluetooth features will be disabled on the Era 100s.

I have this exact set up, albeit a ProJect turntable with external amp, which I use with a Sonos Port.

I also have the Arc surround set up in my living Room and multiple other Sonos speakers around the house, you can group the port with whichever speakers you want the sound sent to, including the surround set up.

1. If I use a Sonos Port, can I watch TV with the audio playing through the speakers in the living room, while my wife listens to music from the turntable in other rooms? - Yes

2. Can I also play the turntable audio through the speakers in the living room while the TV is off? - Yes

3. Is the Port the best choice for this setup, or are there better options? - I'm happy with the port set up, works flawlessly.

Personally I'd use an Era 100 with the line in adapter for the turntable.
