I have just bought a new Port to connect my new Pro-Ject T1 turntable to my system. Installation of Port was simple with no issues.

I have set the Port up as a “room” and connected the turntable via Line In. I have set up the default speakers via the app and it connects and plays as soon as I put the needle on the record.

I have also set up Groups for other rooms. Kitchen is 4x ceiling speakers powered by an Amp. Bedroom is a Play 3 etc etc. I have added the Port room to the Group but when selected there is no sound in the other rooms.

Any suggestions very welcome. Thanks

That could be an issue with your wifi transfer quality. To reduce the data amount comming from the line in please set „audio compression“ in apps general settings fixed to „compressed“.
Setting a higher delay for group playback in line in options also might help.
After all the problem also could be using a wifi repeater on your network. If you do, it probably doesn’t support multicast and you have to get all grouped devices connect to the router or an access point.

There is a priority issue too. If you add the turntable room to the other group, that room plays what the existing group is playing. You need to do it the other way: add the Kitchen to your turntable room.

Sounds like you are grouping the wrong room, group the kitchen etc to the room that has the turntable source line-in source selected, ie the ‘Autoplay Room’, not the Port room.

If you do group, I would also select the ‘Include Grouped Rooms’ in Autoplay settings on Port, otherwise you will find the Autoplay room will drop the group when you change the Album or change sides of Album.

Brilliant , thank you for the advice. Think it’s fixed.

  1. Changed Groups to include the Autoplay room and not the Port
  2. Set Audio Compression to Compressed
  3. Added “Included Grouped Rooms” to Autoplay
  4. Also changed Audio Delay to Max on Line In

Will test over the next couple of days and report back here how I get on.

Thanks for for all the advice

Wow, that was the big overall service pack, I think. 😉 To be honest imo there was no need to do all at once. I would have tried one after the other step by step. Especially the delay and compression, because there is no need to change this, if wifi is ok and there just was an user error in correct grouping or setting autoplay destination. So I recommend to try again with compression set to auto and delay to 75ms or maybe one step more.

Thanks Ralf, will make systematic changes and test each step when I have more time over the weekend.

Makes sense… good luck and you’re welcome for any further questions.
