I’m looking to connect our old turntable (Technics SL-1200MK2) to our recently purchased Sonos Arc with Era 300 speakers.  I’m going to purchase the port but am looing to see if anyone can share what preamps you have been using with Sonos.

In my research, these 3 keep coming up:

Cambridge Audio Alva Solo, UTurn Pluto 2, Rega Fono Mini A2D MKII

Also the Schiit Mani continues to show up, but with very mixed reviews

I’d love to hear your feedack.

Thanks

Preamp circuitry is a commodity, no reason to spend a fortune, unless you are looking for bragging rights.  A perfectly transparent phono preamp can be had for under $20.

I use a Cambridge Alva Duo. Not to be confused with the Solo. The main difference being that the Duo has discrete circuitry for MM and MC cartridges. It also will turn itself off after a few minutes of no signal detection. If you’re wondering the power up is only a few seconds (2-3).

Just make sure you get one that can do MM or MC, depending on what cartridge type is in the turntable.

They have some great reviews on preamps.
