My setup includes a raspberry pi with Darkice and Icecast2 streaming on my local network so that I can play my vinyls through my Sonos system. This has been working perfectly for over a year now, but with the new Sonos app, my “favourited” stream has disappeared. So I am unable to play my vinyls through Sonos.

I’ve tried adding the Tune-in (new) service, authorised my account, added the custom URL - which works fine through the Tune-in app. I’ve even marked it as a favourite, but it’s not available through the new Sonos app.

I’ve removed and re-authenticated the tune-in (new) service a number of times, hoping it would refresh, but no luck.

I’m not interested in all the public streaming radio channels and would just like to be able to play my vinyls locally as I've been able to.

Has anyone managed to find a solution to this?

What you were doing Sound interesting .

I have a sonos port that my turntable plugs into and use the line in as a source..

I already had the pi running a bunch of other services, so wasn’t keen to fork out for a port. Also, I’m keen on DIY solutions :)

I might, reluctantly, have to go the port route now.

Does the port automatically play to your Sonos when you put a record on? Or do you still have to go into the app to start paying?

Well the old app used to ...It will be interesting to see if this is still supported.

I am installing a set up just like this for a customer on Tuesday ..

I can give an update on how it goes ....

I ran into the same issue but solved it.

I am running RasberryPi and DarkIce to stream to my local network and then using Sonos to play the stream via TuneIn (New).

I upgraded to the new updated Sonos app on my iPhone and lost my access to TuneIn (old version) -this lost my self-created TURNTABLE stream. Worried I could not recreate it but I was able to get it working again in the new Sonos app using TuneIn (new).

  1. Upgrade Sonos App.
  2. Run the ICECast Streaming Media Server on your a local PC/MAC.
  3. Make note of your icecast streaming URL  (mine was http://10.0.0.88:8000/turntable.mp3)
  4. Make sure you’re running the turntable and rasberry Pi has is powered up/plugged in. Note: if you can’t figure out what the URL of your Icecast stream is, you might be able to find it under the TuneIn (old) on the Sonos app on your PC/MAC (if you ever used it). You can upgrade the Sonos app on PC/MAC and it should still show the TuneIn (old) app (unlike the iphone which get rid of the TuneIn (Old).
  5. Open TuneIn (new) app on your iphone or PC.
  6. Click Library
  7. Click on Custom URL
  8. Type in the IceCast Streaming URL (i.e. http://10.0.0.88.:8000/turntable.mp3).
  9. Add URL station to your favorites.
  10. Open Sonos App and click on TuneIn under YourServices.
  11. Scroll to Favorites > Click on Streaming Link for Turntable.
  12. Click Play Button and you should hear your stream if you have a Sonos Room selected and you turntable/raspberry pi are sending a signal (and your icecast media server is working). You can check your icecast media server status via your PC browser by going to your streaming URL + admin page (i.e. http://10.0.0.88:8000/admin/. (clicking on listclients will show if your rasberrypi is sending a stream).
  13. Click … (3 dots) above TuneIn (New) . Live Station.
  14. Click Add to Sonos Favorites.
  15. Done.

Make sure your Turntable & RaspberryPI and casting/running before trying to add the URL. Check your browser IceCast url (i.e. http://10.0.0.88:8000/admin) yours may be different…. to make sure you have a stream showing up under the listclients section.

Thanks @huzee1, this is working great with the latest app update!

@huzee1, I have the same setup. I have my stream working in my (android) app, but I do not see the stream in the sonos app. I can't even see anything like "favorites” folder for TuneIn. Do you maybe know how to fix this?

@NB96 I also can’t get this to work. I add the station in the TuneIn app, and can listen to it there. But it never shows up (after several days now) in the Sonos app.

@huzee1 did you add the TuneIn app to Sonos before or after adding the custom stations? I’m curious if I need to delete TuneIn from Sonos and re-add it.
