changing the Sonos bridge

Hi!So i dont really have Sonos equipments (not that i dont want some), but I'm writing on behalf of my grandparents so i dont really know all about Sonos products. Im the "tech guy" of the family so i guess i dont really have a choice XDSo they have a Playbar and a Play:1 setup to what i think is a Sonos Bridge (a white box with only 2 ethernet ports at the back, nothing else). They recently acquired a new turntable they want to setup on their Sonos equipment. I initially thought they could wire it with directly on the amp but since the Bridge lacks Rca input, it's impossible. I've come across a Sonos Connect (both Gen 1 and gen 2 available) that I could aquire. I was wondering if I could replace their white box, the Sonos Bridge with only 2 ethernet ports, with one of them. Is it possible to just swap it for one of the two withiut changing their current speakers, so that they could enjoy their turntable? And if so, is it pretty straightforward?Also, if it's be possible, which gen would you recommend for a Playbar and a Play:1?Thanks!

BRIDGE is old, obsolete, and many of them are now failing. If you don’t want to read up on things, I suggest that you replace BRIDGE with a CONNECT Gen 2.

The Bridge itself does not do audio. It is used to set up a Sonos specific network, Sonosnet. This means there is no “amp” in the system to connect to. Sonosnet will be set up for any cable connected Sonos device, so If you’d acquire a Connect and cable connect that it would function as a starting point for Sonosnet (and a more advanced form of Sonosnet compared to the Bridge), and you’d be able to connect a (pre amped) turntable. Sonosnet can also be instigated from other Sonos devices, but not from Subs or any speakers used as surrounds. You could also switch the system over to WiFi.

There9s to kinds of software on Sonos, S1 and S2. The Bridge is S1 only, so is a Connect (Gen 1). If your grandparents would like to buy newer Sonos equipment in the future an S2 capable Connect (Gen 2) would be needed. I would not upgrade to S2 if they have not problems with the S1 app - the S2 app seems more prone to spell trouble on older devices.
