Arc Issues when connecting to device with line-in

So - been having some rather irritation issues with my Arc lately.  I have a record player that is connected via line-in to an Era 100 (cheapest way to get this record player onto my Sonos network).  That works fine.  The problem I continually have it getting my Arc to either play from that line in when its actively playing - OR - to even pair the Arc with the Era 1 so that it plays as a group.

Initially - I had much better results by setting the Arc’s source to this line in.  Until recently.  What I’ve discovered is that for some odd reason - it stops being able to connect.  Seemingly randomly.  Looking at my wifi settings - I see that the Arc is continually getting a second IP!  I even set my router to only feed it a specific IP to stop this.  And that initially fixed it - until the more recent firmware updates.  Now it forces its way out of this somehow and grabs another IP.  Anyone have any idea how to stop this behavior?  It seems to be the root cause of a ton of issues with the Arc and the app itself - so I question if this is truly the root of all the reliability issues we’ve had since this past summer.  So utterly annoying.

The Arc works fine when connected over HDMI to the TV - I’d imagine it still needs to use the network because I have a Sub and 2x Era 300 attached to it.  So what I’m hoping is that it doesn’t do something dumb like request a new IP when it switches from TV to some other source...

Not seen this issue on this forum before.  I have a similar set up with no such issues.  Maybe give the support team a call?

Sounds like an issue with your network if The Arc is getting a second IP. Can you describe your network? Do you have two devices doing router duties? Wifi extender?

What I would suggest id configuring your router with a starting IP at 192.168.1.50.

Give all your Sonos speakers IP reservations between 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.49

I have my network setup similar to this and I have zero connection issues.

I have a range for static IPs for other devices that need them; but the only Sonos device I had assigned a static IP to was the Arc.

So - this was being particularly stubborn the other night so I watched things from my router (Ubiquiti UDM-Pro) - and would watch the wifi on the Arc go from ‘Excellent’ to ‘Poor’ repeatedly.  But it was on the only device behaving like this.  I took a look at the radio environment on the router console and found that there are over 30 APs within range of mine (crazy thing is - I live in a house not an apartment/condo.  I guess the proliferation of mesh wifi is causing more issues than resolving them) - all on the same channel that my AP auto-selected for some reason (channel 1).  I switched that to be explicitly channel 6 - and its behaved and held onto the wifi signal  - and its static IP assignment - no problem now for a few days.

The interesting thing is - the Arc is literally 8 feet from the AP - in the same room.  When it was poor it seemed to trigger a DHCP release and an attempt to grab a new IP.  This seemed to cause all sorts of issues with the other Sonos devices as they could no longer ‘see’ it - and sure enough it would disappear from the Sonos App (iOS & MacOS) for a while - sometimes it wouldn’t reappear until I unplugged the arc and plugged it back in.  Such strange behavior that to me feels like a firmware bug.  It shouldn’t be dropping its DHCP lease simply because the wifi conditions have deteriorated.  Seems to be some poorly executed recovery attempt logic.

The bonded devices will use the Arc MAC address to proxy, this is by design and normal. The bonded devices will use their own MAC when they boot or are updating system firmware IIRC. I don’t use DHCP reservation for Sonos HT speakers, as it may lead to a false positive of ARP spoof detection on some network hardware.
