Connecting Era 300 to turntable

I’m a newbie at this. There’s a grey noise coming out of the Era 300 when connected to my turntable.

my setup is a Pro-ject Debut 3 turntable connected to a NAD preamp on phono.

the record sound is very low and theres a loud grey sound as soon as i connect my jack to the Era 300.

has anyone had this issue?

If you disconnect the NAD preamp and just use the turntable’s integrated preamp/line-out, do you have the same issue?

Also be sure to adjust the Source Level under the Era 300’s Line-In settings in the Sonos app.
