Can't connect my Era 100 to my new Pro-Ject T1

Just purchased the Pro-Ject T1 for my husbandand trying to connect it to my Era 100.  Used the cable that came with the Pro-Ject and connected it via a y-splitter to the Sonos line-in adapter. I have selected the line-in option on the turntable and I have selected the line-in on my Sonos app and the turntable spins and it looks like it’s playing but nothing is coming out.  Any help would be amazing as I am super frustrated.

Please don’t be frustrated.

Is the turntable equipped with a pre-amp switch? If so, turn it to Line, not Phono. If it isn’t, you need to get an external one, and put it between the turntable and the Sonos, to boost the signal to the level that the Sonos is expecting.

I don’t know what the ‘line in’ option on the turntable is. Could you be more specific? Perhaps it is the output switch I am speaking about above?

is this Y- splitter you’re speaking of a stereo RCA to 3.5mm device?

And just to be certain, this Era 100 isn’t in use as a surround speaker, is it?

Thanks for the response!

It does have a pre-amp switch and it’s on Line not Phono.  That was the Line option I was referring to.

It’s two 3.5 mm female to one 3.5 mm male.  I’ve been wondering if that was the issue?

No….the Era isn’t being used as a surround speaker.

Why are you using what’s basically a combiner? What’s plugged into the other female?

Is it actually two RCA female to one 3.5mm stereo male? That would make much more sense.

@schiano98 Do you mind posting photos of all of the cable connections?

Great idea bc I really don’t know what I’m talking about in terms of cords…. Here is my entire connection route.  The Pro-Ject came w cables so I used those and then I purchased the line in cable from Sonos for the Era and this is what I used to bring the two cables down to one...

Ken_Griffiths

@schiano98,

You probably might have been able to cut down on the cables used, from 3 to 2, but that’s perhaps not important - I can’t be too sure from your photo, but I did initially wonder if this connection is seated correctly? … see close-up screenshot below:

It maybe worth checking that it’s fully pushed in, but otherwise it should be working when the Era’s line-in is selected as the playback audio source, or line-in ‘Autoplay’ is enabled.

Thank you all!  Got it working. That connection pictured above was fine, but just to exhaust all options, I ordered a different RCA cable that took it from red and white to one which I plugged directing into the Sonos converter and that worked.  It eliminated the Y connection and it was perfect.

I’m having similar issues. I’ve bought the Era 100 and Project T1 turntable separately. I then bought a USB-C/AUX cable and connected it with an aux-male RCA cable plugged directly into the turntable. This system doesn’t seem to be working. Is it because I need to use the RCA-to-RCA cable supplied with the turntable? I.e. could I use a female RCA-to-aux cable to get it working?

You need one of the Sonos ADC adapters to use with the Era line-in. See these links:
