Web App Only Divides Speakers Between 2 Systems?

When I log into the Sonos Web App, it has 8 of my speakers in one system and the 1 amp on its own system. My system at home all have static/assigned IPs, all on Wifi 2.4ghz, no ethernet.

Ironically, the single amp on its own system (Web App only) is continuously causing all kinds of problems (disappearing/appearing on iOS app, Windows app, volume delayed or doesn’t adjust at all, editing alarms, etc.). I have a feeling communication with the Web App is causing my problems since it does not align with the iOS app or Windows app (they list all speakers and the amp).

Everything works flawlessly (beautifully!) using Sonophone (obviously not having to communicate back to the proprietary Sonos Web App).

How do I merge the single Connect: Amp into the same system on the Web App? I’ve done the factory reset already of the Connect: Amp...still spread across 2 systems.

**This is the Sonos Web App only**

For fun, I have unplugged and plugged one of my Play speakers (not factory reset), and when it reboot it is now in “System 1” along with the Connect: Amp.

So, I unplugged my ERA 100, and it has moved to “System 1”. So I repeated this with Sonos Move, same thing….

So all the speakers that have not powered down for a long time, stayed in their own “System”, in this case “System 2”. Because I was problem solving the Connect: Amp, it was always showing up in “System  1”. So I have been walking around the house power cycling all my speakers (2 Roams, 2 Play SLs).

(10 mins later, everything rebooted). I no longer have 2 systems listed in the Web App or in the iPhone App. Everything is in one place on the Web App (it didn’t even present the option of choosing “System 1” or “System 2”.

Hopefully this helps with my issues.

What do you see in the Sonos App, Android or Apple?

What if you try a different web browser to look at the Sonos web-app?

Sonos App S2 (Apple) shows all my speakers and amp together. I can select them, no issues. Same with Windows app, all speakers and amp show up on the left. Then the Connect: Amp has a “mind of its own” when playing. No issues using Sonophone App.

Web App shows 8 speakers, without the amp, if I sign into that system (labelled “System 2”). I logout and then sign back in and select “System 1”, it only shows the Connect: Amp on the right, no other speakers.

I tried Firefox and Google Chrome, same result.

I know it has only been a day, but all those little issues I was having (adjusting alarms, volume response, disappear/reappear, etc) with the Connect: Amp have gone away. From my experience working with databases in my business career, if the “links” don’t match exactly, then you will have issues. I am optimistic that this is the case with my Sonos issues.

I think this should be a step in problem solving a system since Sonos introduced the Web App into the loop (not sure the purpose of the web app?). Since the web app is probably not used by most, people wouldn’t know their system could be “split up”, possibly contributing to their ongoing issues. In my case, I just thought I check what the web app was all about, hence, found this issue.

  1. Go to https://play.sonos.com
  2. Confirm your system is setup the same way on the web app as your Sonos app on your phone and/or computer app.
  3. Power cycle those units that are in the 2nd system. They should move to the 1st system when they reboot and eventually the 2nd system will disappear.
  4. The web app should now match the Sonos S2 App on your phone.

I know I am using old equipment, but I am hesitant to upgrade based on the issues with the upgraded app. I am not “feeling the love” anymore with Sonos. I have a variety of Sonos products (9 of them), and didn’t think twice in buying them over the years because I loved the system so much. The frustration over the past year (and not just the older equipment) has me learning about Sonos alternatives to possibly switch.

I will post to this thread after a month to see if my successes have continued.

5 days later….

My system is still “together” when I log into play.sonos.com, however, I am back to the system having a mind of its own when using the Sonos App, even with the Sonophone App. I only use the Sonos app to control alarms.

My solution, I am using dedicated apps (Sirius XM, Apple Music) and AirPlay to play our music. In the Sonos App, I have the Airplay setting set to play grouped equipment for the older units. I use Sonophone to group my equipment.

Therefore, if I control my Sonos system this way, I might as well move to a Wiim system rather than paying $900CAD for a new Sonos amp. I am just not confident that new equipment will fix the issues with the Sonos App based on the volume of complaints regarding the Sonos App.
