FYI No release notes.

If you’ve updated is it safe to do so?

Just took the 80.09.09 app update.  Still no local library album art in the queue.  There still is no Save option in the queue.  The queue still does not follow the music progress.  Can someone from Sonos define what was done?

Have updated, immediately saw no major changes and seems to be just as "stable" as before.
There is also an update to the speakers..

Trueplay support for iOS 18 but not the iPhone 16 pro??? Anybody else notice the sound with no adjustments is way worse than before???

FYI this update breaks surround distance changes when Trueplay is enabled.

Prior to the major app update, this function was always greyed out with TP enabled. This was then made available and useable since the major app update (ie one could change the distance setting and fine tune the balance of surrounds WITH Trueplay enabled). Since 80.09.09, while the surround distance setting is still available to change, it makes no audible difference.

I’m hesitant to say this, but since the 80.09.09 update on 16th Oct, my Music Library re-index seems to work ok when I initiate it from the PC Controller App.

The Music Library re-index process was persistently failing with the generic message ‘[NAS path] is no longer available.  The device where the music files are stored may not be powered on, or the path may have changed.’

At the same time, the following message would appear in the NAS samba log:

[2024/10/03 10:55:22.442893,  0] smbd/smb2_server.c:328(smb2_validate_message_id)
smb2_validate_message_id: client used more credits than granted message_id (66562)

The release notes for the 80.10.06 (Android) software mention Music library indexing and reliability improvements, but no mention under IOS or PC. It seems though improvements have also been made for the PC platform, or perhaps changes to the speaker firmware itself has resolved the issue. My speakers are now on Sonos OS 16.4.2 (build 81.1-58074).

It’s the speaker firmware that does the indexing, so you see the ‘benefit’ across all controllers. Sonos really need to provide clear release notes for the firmware too.

Seems beyond them at present. Along with adding more bugs with fixes.
