I have just ordered the new sub / Era 300 x 2 / Arc Ultra to upgrade from an original playbar/original sub and Sonos one surrounds.
At the moment the playbar is connected via optical fibre to my sky q box (if I connected to my tv I got all sorts of lip synch issues).
Could anyone tell me from experience the best way to set up this new kit to enable me to get the best possible audio.
MyTV is a Samsung S95BA 65

Thank you

If you’re buying that kind of set-up, you need to be using HDMI connected between the Arc Ultra and the HDMI-eARC port on the TV, otherwise you’ll not get Dolby Atmos on anything, just 5.1.

It’s unlikely you’d experience the same lip sync issues with the Arc Ultra.

Does your TV have an HDMI-eARC port? I’d imagine from the recency of the TV that this isn't an issue.

Once connected to the TV, in the TV’s sound settings you should set it to Passthrough so that the TV isn’t processing the sound and causing sync issues.

Thank Rhonny that’s perfect. The TV does have an eARC so hopefully everything will be ok

I’m sure it will. The setting up will be very intuitive. A few pointers below (NB. the Samsung sound settings might not be precisely the same headings as mine):

Sky Q to TV by HDMI (with all relevant sound outputs activated in settings if applicable - e.g. Dolby Atmos)

Arc Ultra to TV by HDMI (eARC port) - and set up the sub and surrounds.

Samsung TV settings:

  • Sound
    • Sound Output - Receiver (HDMI-eARC)
    • Expert settings
      • HDMI-eARC mode - Auto
      • Digital Output Audio Format - Pass-through
      • Dolby Atmos Compatibility - On
  • General
    • External Device Manager
      • Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) - On
      • Input Signal Plus - On for all HDMI inputs

Ensure you run Trueplay, and adjust any other sub and surround settings to taste.

NOTE: Also ensure you are using High-Speed HDMI cables for all connections.
