Problems with connecting Play 1, Play 3 and playbar onto new sonos app

Have had a sonos system for close to 10 years, never had an issue until this new app upgrade. I can connect the Sonos Move and Roam without any issue. Everytime I open the app they are there.

As for the 3 off Play 1, Play 3 and the Playbar. I am now well sick to the back teeth of the system finding the speakers after I have reset them then sometimes they connect and then just disappear.

For the first time this very evening, and trying to connect the Playbar, it does the same procedure, after a reset, the system finds the Playbar, it connects and finally joins to the network, all good, it then it tries to an update and for the first time I get an error message which says that the speaker is connected but wont show as the update as not worked and until the playbar is updated it wont connect.

No idea now how to resolve this issue. I am hoping it is a simple fix and that this will help with the other speakers connecting.

If you are able to connect the Playbar to your router by ethernet, this will help to get it updated.

If you are getting the error code 1000 or 1001, then download the PC or Mac app from here:

https://support.sonos.com/en-us/downloads

then try the update and finishing the setup with that.

Hi I have downloaded app onto a windows pc - tried to register products but it’s stuck on updates error 1101.  Rebooted router , reset the speaker (Play3) and still getting sane error. On phone IOS it’s error 1000. Am I to assume Play3 is obsolete ?

No, I run PLAY:3s daily on S2 without issue, they certainly are not ‘obsolete’, in fact, to my knowledge, Sonos still supports all of their speakers, using either S1 or S2, depending on the speaker type, since they first started making speakers.

But you can’t ‘add’ devices, or ‘setup’ new systems, using the PC or Mac controller, you must use a mobile controller. Those functions were removed from the desktop controllers several years ago, when they were put in ‘maintenance mode’.

Have you referred to FAQ for error 1000? Have you wired the PLAY:3 directly to your router? Have you called Sonos Support directly to discuss it?

When you speak directly to the phone folks, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
