I am trying to connect a Marantz ER2500 CD/DVD player to my Sonos 5 speaker. I also own a Marantz PM710 DC Amplifier that I’m actually already using to connect my AR XA215832 Turntable to the Sonos 5. Being doing this for years, and although definitely not the ideal set up, it has worked well for us. I have the Amp connected to Sonos with an RCA cable and what I believe is a TRS Male Stereo to Dual RCA Female Adapter. What I’m trying to find out is if it is possible to connect both my Marantz ER2500 CD player and my AR XA215832 turntable to the Marantz PM710 DC Amp, then the amp to the Sonos 5. Anyone knows if this is possible? What cable to I need? So thankful for any advice.

This assumes your turntable has no built-in pre-amp;  therefore you are using the Phono stage of the Marantz Amp.

You’ll need a selectable switch like the one shown at this link

Connections might be:

  • Turntable: RCA cable from Marantz Tape-Out to RCA Input 1 on Switch
  • CD/DVD player: RCA cable -Out to RCA Input 2 on Switch
  • Play Five: RCA to 3.5mm cable from RCA out on Switch to Play Five 3.5mm Input

Why would you not connect the CD player to the Tape 3/Aux or tuner inputs on the amplifier? And then just use the amp input selector?

Thank you for your input Ian. I actually figured out that by adding a pre amp to my turntable I was able to do just that today. I have everything working right now. Super happy! Thank you both for your help
