At work we have an old sonos device connected to an old windows pc.. windows 7 i believe.

The problem is that in the sonos app on the PC most things are greyed out, as in I can't click them. When I click the spotify button it says "your spotify account must re authorize, connect to another controller" huh..?

When I try to update the sonos app it says there's problem with windows installer, when I try to download a newer windows installer it wont work.. feels like no matter what we are doomed..

I was wondering, can i somehow connect youtube to the sonos maybe? Because spotify seems to be no option.. i just want to be able to play my own music.. so far we can only play radio stations..

I tried to connect my phone to the sonos but it doesn't seem to have bluetooth, and It's hooked to some unknown wifi while I only have 4G..

Silly question but I guess there is no easy way to make your own "radio station" and play music from there?

One odd thing though is that I can't tell which wifi this sonos is connected to.. there really is no wifi nearby that i can find on my phone.. weird. 4g wouldnt work?

Start from scratch and perform a factory reset of the Connect:Amp by following these steps. Then install the latest version of the Sonos S1 app on your phone using a new account. Then redo the setup process for the Connect:Amp by following the instructions in this article:

Try removing Spotify from your music services by following these steps:

  1. From the toolbar in the top left corner, click Manage > Service Settings.
  2. Click the service you wish to remove and click the - (minus) button if you are using macOS or Remove if you are using Windows. If you’ve added multiple accounts, make sure the correct one is selected before removing.
  3. Click Remove.

Then re-add Spotify, or any other music service, by following these steps:

  1. Under the Select a Music Source section, click on Add Music Services.
  2. Click on the service you would like to add.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to add the music service account.

I can't see such options. Top left says "archive"  "show mini controller (which does nothing)

Then it says edit (nothing)

And then "manage" all options are greyed out except for settings, but in settings i can only change timezone

Somewhere in the ‘Settings’ area, there should be something along the lines of ‘system’ or ‘about my (Sonos) system”. On the page that it brings up, there should be an indication of which controller version is being run, and under each speaker, should be an indication of what software version is running on each speaker.

In fact, if you could post a screen capture of that ‘report’, it would be helpful. If not, tell us which controller version, and which version is running on each speaker.

Sonos S2 has only limited support for Windows 7 now.

At the bottom of my post there is an imgur which included my sonos. Not sure if you saw

Apologies, I did miss that. You’re certainly out of date on your version of the software, but you also are restricted by Windows 7, as ratty points out, it isn’t supported for S2. Fortunately, according to the FAQ, for S1, it still is.

You may be challenged by any VPN or other blocking software on your system, but updating to the latest version of S1 would likely fix your problems. @GuitarSuperstar ’s post would be an efficient way to move forward, just don’t try to upgrade to S2, and stick with S1.
