Play3's as Surround Rears orientation matter?

Forum|alt.badge.img

Just inherited a pair of Play3’s that I am going to make the rears for my surround sound with my Arc.

I MAY be overthinking this. but is there a difference beyond aesthetically in horizontal vs vertical orientation?

I have the Sanus floor stands so they can go either way.

And for PLAY:3s, it likely doesn’t matter as much as it does with the larger Sonos speakers. Try both, since you have the opportunity, and see which you prefer, but there’s no changing going on inside the speaker based on orientation.

Most people would recommend the vertical orientation when using the Play:3s as surrounds. If I were you, I would test both orientations and see which sounds best to your ears.
