I understand that using a Sonos Connect to play my turntable to the Sonos Arc is a cheaper than using the Port.  But, will I need a pre-amp to use the Connect or the Port.  My turntable is an older Sherwood turntable.

You always need a pre-amp to boost a turntable’s Phono output to a line level input, which is what Sonos is looking for.

Some turntables have a pre-amp built in, but they’re  a relatively cheap external device to purchase, if your turntable doesn’t.

The CONNECT is merely the older model / precursor to the Port. They’re essentially the same device.
