Newbie here. So, I just upgraded (ha!) my wireless network, getting rid of the Comcast modem and router nd installed a TP-Link AC3150. Now my Sonos controller wont see the network, even when connected via Ethernet to the router. All other devices, with the exception of an older kindle, see the network with no problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks! yanceylebeef
When I use Pandora (not Pandora One) I can select Shuffle Play and choose which of the many stations on my list I want to be included in that Shuffle. How is this feature enabled when using Pandora on Sonos. Does the Quickmix allow you to select a limited number of stations or does it just toggle between all of your stations.
Hello! I recently had my first experience with Sonos while staying at a vacation rental and I am sold :) I have a living room Sony sound bar and sub that work quite well so I'm thinking of buying a play 1 pair for a kitchen and bedroom speaker and then a connect for the Sony. I primarily use an Xbox for all media cconsumption which routes audio and video into the Sony via HDMI, Sony plays audio, then routes video to TV (which is just a glorified monitor now) via HDMI. Questions arise when I have a connect running into the Sony. I'm assuming I'll have a new audio input from Connect into the Sony so ill need to switch between those to get either Xbox video/audio or streaming Sonos to work? Also will the Sonos connect turn on my Sony or will I need to either leave it on 24/7 or turn it on manually when I want to stream music? Anything else I'm missing here? Thanks a ton!
Hi folks - I have a 5 piece Sonos system in multiple rooms within our house. Wifi network is secure and working perfectly. Speakers are on separate breakers in a new house. Everything was great for almost a year then without warning, two Play 1s and a Play 3 stopped being recognized by the app on my phone. I've been through the set up process multiple times but the speakers are no longer being picked up and I'm getting a solid orange light (which suggests over heating... only they're cold... and it's November) Please help me wonderful community! Getting really frustrated as we have family staying for the holidays and one of the main reasons I got this system was for occasions like Thanksgiving! If it doesn't work soon then I'll get a refund and kit my house out with a competitor system... Thanks
Hi there, I'm trying to setup my parents with Sonos for Christmas. We currently have a few Play 3s around the house, but I want to get a setup for our living room thats rather large (20 foot ceiling and open concept to the dinning room). I'm not sure between a pair of Play:1s (and eventually adding a Sub), pair or Play:3s or a single Play:5. Any recommendations or suggestions on what to think about? Thanks in advance! Colin
Hi everyone, For reference, my post is related only to listening to music. I picked up a Play 3 today, mostly to explore the Sonos eco-system and gauge the quality of the product line. I am very impressed with the software/interface/capabilities of the Sonos systems. In fact, I am sold alone on the technical aspects of a Sonos system. I figured that if liked it, I intended to reuse the Play 3 for a small room, and spec out a solution for our living room/dining room area. This is the main area that I sit and listen to music. I should add, I dont have music just playing in the backgroud; one of my hobbies is sitting and listening to music for hours. I have been a long fan of speaker systems that separate the highs and lows into dedicate speakers (satellite and sub style setups). For my ear, these deliver the sound quality I am fond of. So, for my living room, I am debating whether I would be best suited by two Play 1's (plus sub) or two Play 3's (plus sub). I can very much appr
As of this am (11/19/2016) my system is not working. I've rebooted routers, computers, phones etc. Reconnected my Sonos Boost and unplugged and plunged back in several of my speakers (over 10 in the house). Of course Sonos support is mon - fri. Anyone else experiencing connection problems?
Hi. I ordered a CONNECT:AMP to setup up a new room with my KRK Rokit6 powered speakers, and I think I might really need a CONNECT. The KRK speakers have RCA cables, and I'm not sure I can connect them to the CONNECT:AMP. If I can, would it require an RCA to Speaker Wire cable? Thanks, Bill
Since sonos has access to microphone on ios devices. It would be a great idea to add a feature where i can record a message on the app and send it to a dedicated room. Sometimes when im in the kitchen cooking and i want to let my kids to come and eat, I would like to announce it through the play 1 that is in their the room rather than shout it out. :8
Ever since upgrading to the new controller, my iMac no longer stays awake while using my Sonos. I have my music library stored on my iMac and have it set to sleep after only a few minutes. In all previous versions on the controller, as long as I had music playing in Sonos, my iMac would stay awake so the the connection could stay alive and the music would keep playing song after song until i paused it or the end of the queue was reached, at which point the iMac would sleep after a few minutes of inactivity per the energy saver settings. However, since upgrading to the newest controller (5.4), this is no longer the case. It now sleeps even if music is playing if i am not also using the iMac for computing. As a result, Sonos loses the connection to my music library and is unable to play the next track in my queue. Is there a fix for this issue? I know I can set my energy settings so my iMac never sleeps, thus fixing the connection loss issue. However, I do not want to do this because I
Hey there! I have a Klipsch Soundbar (RSB-11) and have been wanting to get some Sonos speakers as well. Would it be possible to use a Sonos Connect on the soundbar, and have it work with 2 Play:1's - for music purposes and for home theater purposes. Thanks!
Hi, sorry if this has already been answered but if it has my search skills are poor. I'm looking to purchase a Turntable to play some of my old LP's and have come across the Audio Technica AT-LP5 which looks to get good reviews and was wondering what i would need to connect it to my current Sonos setup of Soundbar, Sub and 2 x Play 1's all connected with the Sonos Boost for my Wifi. I can see that Sonos have two options in the Connect and the Connect:Amp but would rather not buy the more expensive Connect:Amp if it will just as additional features that i don't need. Thanks in advance for any response to my questions.
hi there I tried to set up a pair of Play:1's and a single Play:3 in the same room (kitchen), but I didn't manage to do so. Is that even possible? Everytime I tried to add the Play:3 as a new player, it kept ending up in the old room it was in before. And just changing the rooms name of the play:3 to kitchen wouldn't work either.
Hey, We have 5 ZP120 Sonos devices in our office. Plus VoIP(Snom). Whenever Sonos has been on for more than 20 minutes, our VoIP starts to fall out. People cannot hear us, we cannot hear them. There is also noise. Our VoIP base stations has been moved away from the ZP120 devices. No luck. Any suggestions?
I recently gifted a Play 1 to a friend. She told me that she was not very computer confident,so I installed in for her. She has a new iPhone, but her laptop is old (7 years). I attempted to install the Sonos controller on the laptop (windows XP) I downloaded and installed the Sonos app and attempted to hook up the play 1 speaker. However, the program didn’t “see” the speaker when I hit the stop & + button. I tried several times to no avail. I then tried to install the Sonos app on the iPhone, that took a while but was eventually successful. The app functioned fine. I wanted to give Sonos access to her music library, but her music was only on her laptop. After her iPhone installation, I again tried to install Sonos on her laptop. This time the laptop “found” the speaker immediately. But the music library settings was ‘grayed out’ and I am unable to get access to her music library. I noticed that the laptop did not have iTunes installed, I installed iTunes, but I was still un
Hi, I am a new customer / Sonos 5 owner... I do not know why you make it so complicated to hook up a direct line into the speaker. Or to use apple play or any other direct app to device functions. The SONOS app sucks. I just want to use the Spotify App, and be able to control the volume of the speakers from my keyboard. Seriously SONOS, the speakers sound great but this whole app thing is totally not necessary or what customers want. Super frustrating experience.
I was looking on Best Buy's website at http://www.bestbuy.com/site/sonos-systems/connect-your-existing-sonos-equipment/pcmcat748300465606.c?id=pcmcat748300465606 and noticed that there are 2 different Subs listed - a Black/Black (Model SUBG1US1BLK) and Black/Silver (Model SUBGBUS1). It appears from the Best Buy spec sheets that there may be some differences between the two models, but wanted to see if there was actually any difference between the two (aside from one having silver, and the other being black)? Thanks in advance!
