Standby Power mode on Play:1
As far as I know, 2xPlay:1 speakers I've always remain power on not matter what. Of course you don't listen to music or use them all the time. I wonder if these speakers could be put in the standby mode when not in use after a defined period of non-functioning? When someone wants to listen to the music, the app will power them back up. Is this something possible to add? Thanks
Moving from US to Singapore
Hi. I currently have a Sonos Play 1, 3 & 5, and a bridge. I am moving to Singapore soon, and am considering expanding my Sonos equipment in advance of my move as it seems to be quite a lot cheaper here in the US. I am looking to purchase a Sonos 5.1 surround sound package (SUB, Player, & two Play 1s). Would anyone be able to advise on the wisdom of buying in the US versus waiting until I move to Singapore - specifically concerning international warranties and the workability of my equipment in Singapore. (I already appreciate that Sonos is dual voltage. Furthermore I am not using Spotify or similar services at this point in time, so I'm not so concerned about subscription to such services at this stage.) Thanks for any feedback anyone might have. Multiple Connects for one NAS Drive?
Hi all I hope this is the right place to post this. I have an existing Sonos setup in my house that works great. I am doing some renovations which will include bringing video outside (already have Zone2 audio outside) and wanted to get the board’s ideas on the best way to accomplish what my new goals are. My current setup: I have a Play:3, a Connect, and a NAS Drive (WD MyCloud). The Connect is hardwired to both my AVR (Toslink) and my WiFi Router (Cat5). Setup currently works great – I can play over my wired 7.1 system through the Connect and AVR or play to the front room via wireless to the Play:3. Or even better…both at same time Obviously the NAS drive is accessible through both the AVR/Connect and the Play:3. I also have current patio speakers through Zone2 and can listen to Sonos outside with no problems through Connect and AVR/Zone2. What I want to do: I will be brining video outside to the patio for the first time. Which throws a potential wrench in to how I
What is the correct way to set up my *Single-Room* Sonos Sound System?
Trying to correctly set up a Sonos System in my Man Cave (Only ONE SINGLE ROOM) with a TV, Playbar, Subwoofer, Connect or/and Connect Amp, Sony Receiver and 6 In-Ceiling Speakers. Here's my situation: I am in one room and one room only. It is a very large Man Cave. For starters, I have 6 In-Ceiling Speakers all hardwired through the ceilings/walls back to one universal location on my bar. I also have an ethernet cable hardwired back from my router to the same location as all of the speaker wire. Along with these 6 In-Ceiling speakers, I have a TV, a Sonos PlayBar, a Sonos Sub-woofer, a Sonos Connect, and a Sony Receiver. My plan was to take all of my speaker wire (6) and hardwire those into the back of my Sony Receiver. Then I would place my Sonos Connect right next to the receiver, hardwire the Connect into the Receiver, and hardwire the ethernet into the Connect. Then simply plug in the subwoofer to a wall outlet. And lastly, direct connect the sound bar (PlayBar)
Add option to turn OFF Ethernet LEDs
LEDs for Ethernet connection blink and are distracting in dark rooms (my Sonos that is connected to the Ethernet is in the bedroom). Can we have option to turn those LEDs OFF? There is option to turn on main indicator light but not Ethernet LEDs. I have seen similar feature on Cisco routers.
Set up surround sound with older Sonos speakers
Currently have: a ZP 90 connected to Modem; 2 Sonos SP 100 speakers connected to a ZP 120; Sonos Controller; a Samsung 8500 TV. Also have a Zonebridge 100, which I never used. Just purchased a Sonos Playbar as well as a SUB as well as a Sonos boost, but don't know if needed. I would like to use the Sonos speakers along with player and sub and don't want to mess anything up in this wonderful system to listen to music and watch TV. Any help, much appreciated. Thanks.
Is Dolby Digital Bitstream passing 5.1 DD Surround?
I'm trying to get 5.1 Surround from my Panasonic TX-P50VT30 to the Playbar via SPDIF (using a optical adapter). So far I only see "Stereo" in the Playbar sound input and I have tested with my Apple TV3, HDMI from Macbook Pro and HDMI from PS3. According to the manual the SPDIF port should pass Dolby Digital Bitstream when selecting "Multi channel" on the TV menu. And as I understand the manual, the TV can pass DTS, Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby Digital Bitstream: http://www.manualslib.com/manual/649718/Panasonic-Tx-P55vt30b.html?page=89#manual I am aware that Playbar does not support DTS. So I'm just wanting a 5.1 signal very much and all I get is "Stereo" in the Sonos "About" section. Frustrating! So, is Dolby Digital Bitstream NOT 5.1 DD? And which SPDIF splitter/converter is recommended, if I need a very small one to hang on the wall behind the TV? (I only need one or two HDMI inputs) All best Anders B.
Sonos, Alexa and Audible
1. Sonos removed Audible because an update caused the service to be incompatible with the Sonos system. 2. Sonos is planning for compatibility with Alexa, the Amazon VI or digital assistant or whatever you want to call them. 3. Amazon owns Audible So, my question is: Will Alexa-Sonos integration solve the problem with Audible-Sonos integration?
Sonos Connect Line In dropping audio in and out
When trying to stream normal audio from a Connect RCA line in to a remote Connect the audio drops in and out consistently. Numerous accounts of the same issue are in the Community but no solutions, not even adding the Boost works. Is the product just not able to handle streaming a line in without the drops?
Sonos network not found
We got a new iPad and a new wireless router so we had to set up our two Play 1s all over and we can't get them to work. I get stuck at the point it tells me to find the sonos network. It doesn't appear on my list of available networks. I have the boost also and it can't connect to that either. I've unplugged the equipment several times and still haven't had any luck. My network connects great to the iPad. Thanks for helping!
Play 1 sound quality
Have just invested in a Sonos set up for the first time, and took the plunge with a pair of Play 1's, figuring that every single review without exception said they sounded fantastic. I'm slight underwhelmed to be honest. They're on wall brackets about 8 foot apart, have run Trueplay & the sound quality is not blowing me away. Listening to radio stations on tune in does sound pretty damn good, but streaming spotify/Google play music, it sounds a bit flat and undynamic. Anything with a bit of complexity, there is no detail, the bass is a dull thud and it all sounds a bit muddled. I did so much research before buying and reviewers and consumers alike rave about the crystal clear sound and finding details they've never heard before etc. Am not finding any of that. I'm far from an audiophile, I just like clear dynamic sounds from my system Any thoughts? Run trueplay again?
Is my replacement speaker used ??
Hi all I have a Play 5 speaker which was distorted in the high range (tweeter) from time to time. It had only been in use less than a week, thou it was bought 8 month ago. I called the Danish supportline, who was very kind and serviceminded. he could also see, from the log file, that the first time it was power up, was less than a week ago. So after a little conversation, he said he would send me a new speaker, and then could i return the old one. Was really pleased by his knowledge, and kindness. I have now received my new speaker, but now im not so sure if it´s a new speaker or a "old" return speaker which they have repacked, because og the label, and that the corner of the inside case was damaged even thou the outer case (from the shipment) wasn't. I can se that it has been assigned a new VPN number (please see the attached photo), is there any good explanation for that, and what is that number ??
Changing WIFI, none of the support articles work
I have just changed my wifi connection and am now trying to reconnect my 2x Play 1 speakers, but it is not working. Step one: I have followed the instructions that the sonos controller recommends on how to change the wifi settings. Plugged my speaker into the router with an ethernet cable, but my speaker does not appear in the sonos controller as it should. It just keeps telling me that I need to follow the instructions. So I am going round in circles. Step two: I tried 'setting up a new system' from my phone. I get to the point where there is meant to be a temporary 'sonos' wifi network I am meant to join, but the network never appears. So I can't progress with those steps either. Can anybody help? Why does Sonos make this so difficult? Surely I should just be able to adjust the wifi settings in the app!
Ethernet vs wireless mac address
I live on a school campus with a secured wireless system where I have to register every device I have onto the network with their mac addresses. When connecting, it tells me I need a 12 character line for the address but my sonos products give me 13. Which character do I drop for the wireless connection and for the wired connection for my sonos?
My electric piano and Connect/Sonos 5
Hi, I have an old electric piano which I would normally connect to a mixer, and then to an amp/speaker combination. I also have 2 Sonos 5's (in our living room). I am thinking of moving the piano to the living room. If I got a Connect, would I be able to use my piano with my Sonos 5's? What does the Connect 'expect', in terms of a signal? Many thanks.
When is Echo Support coming?
Hi Guys, Let me start off by saying I love you guys. I have a Playbar, Play 5, Play 3, Connect, and am looking to complete my Playbar setup with a couple of Play 1's and a Sub soon. I also have an Amazon Echo and it is awesome. In fact, it's a bit too awesome and I find myself asking Alexa to play music just because if I want to hear a song, all I have to do is ask; I don't have to bust out my phone. The problem is the speakers on the Echo are mediocre at best. I would much prefer the sound to come out of my Sonos system. With the "internet of things" really starting to take off - integration is going to become more and more important. Amazon Echo has sort of a plugins-type interface called skills. https://developer.amazon.com/public/solutions/alexa/alexa-skills-kit/getting-started-guide It would be amazing if you guys could create an skill for Sonos. Something like "Alexa, tell Sonos to play *playlist*." or music by _____ or x from pandora. I've done some searc
