two sub mini's reboot

I’d like to restart the conversation about adding the ability to pair two sub mini’s in the same system.

About a year ago, a Sonos rep replied to one of the many closed threads about this that it ‘could’ happen, but he wouldn’t confirm.

I’d like to cast my vote for what should be a fairly simple thing for Sonos to do (since they already have this feature with the subs gen 3/4).   I have a small condo and personally prefer the tighter sound of the sub mini, but would just like to have another to spread the bass more evenly throughout my living room

Anyway, I hope Sonos has this on the table as a feature they might add.  It’s basically money I’m ready to spend that’s being left on the table for no other reason than Sonos seems to want to arbitrarily limit this product.

Did you find what you were looking for?

Do you mean the same Sonos ‘room’, and not the same system? As far as I’m aware, respecting the restrictions of the maximum number of speakers, a Sub mini can be added to as many Sonos ‘rooms’ as there are, just not two in the same ‘room’.  Are you not experiencing this?

But a sub mini has to be joined with another sonos speaker in order to work.  Right now I have two era 100’s (in a stereo pair) joined with my one sub mini.  If I were to add one sub mini to each of the era 100’s, that would be taking the era 100’s out out of the stereo pair that they’re currently in.  I want to keep the era 100’s in a stereo pair but add a second sub mini.  Make sense?

I understand that desire, but the Sonos software won’t, as you’ve found, allow two Sonos Sub minis in a single Sonos ‘room’. You can, however, add a second mini, bonded to another Sonos ‘room’, and satisfy your desire to have both in the same physical space.

My point was Sonos allows multiple Sub minis, as long as each is in a different Sonos ‘room’. Your request reads like Sonos only allows a single Sub minis in an entire Sonos system.

Sonos seems to believe two Sonos Sub minis in a single room should be replaced with a single Sub. I have no idea if this is due to a technical restriction, or a marketing decision.

Let me clarify.  To add a new room with a sub mini, I believe I would have to buy at least one additional sonos speaker to pair it with.  The only other option would be to delete the stereo pair I have with the era 100’s and make two ‘rooms’ with each ‘room’ having one sub mini and one era 100.  At that point, there would be no ‘stereo’, only ‘mono’ sound from each room, which is not what I want here.

Now if I were to buy a 3rd era 100, that would be an extra upper frequency speaker that I don’t want or need, and I think it would muddy the sound.

Correct. Reread my two posts.

Unless I’m mistaken, you’re saying buy the big sub, or … make a new room with which would mean either buying another (3rd) sonos speaker to pair with the 2nd sub mini, or separating my current stereo pair of era 100’s and connect a sub to each … creating two rooms.  None of those options is what I want.  I like the sound of the sub mini and want to add another one to the current stereo ‘system’ I already have set up.

Which is why I said ‘I understand that desire’.

Even with the larger (more expensive) Sub 4, a user can only attach one Sub only to a stereo pair - it’s only with some Home Theatre setups that two large Sub’s can be used, so I perhaps would not hold my breath that Sonos will introduce this for their smaller/cheaper Sub-Mini.

Users have been requesting two larger Subs to work with a stereo pair of Sonos Fives and that’s not happened so far either.

I’m guessing the overall customer demand ‘perhaps’ just isn’t there at the moment and those with a single Sub-Mini can at least consider using the larger Sub 4, or perhaps add two Mini’s to separate Sonos ‘Rooms’ within the same physical room, as already mentioned earlier in this thread.
