TV > HDMI > Arc Ultra > Multi-speaker?

Hi. I have just set up my new Sonos speakers (Arc Ultra, Amp, Five, 2x Roam 2).

I am able to play Spotify/music through all the speakers at once.

I am able to play the tv sounds through the Arc Ultra.

But when, through the app, I try to play the tv sounds through all speakers it either:

  1. Deselects the other speakers and only plays through the Arc Ultra; or
  2. Stops playing audio on all devices.

Has anyone experienced the same issue? Any tips?

Via the app, do a couple of forced Check for Updates to make sure all speakers are on the same version. Select the room with the Arc/tv first, and then add the other rooms into your group. See how that goes and let us know.

Thanks so much, but unfortunately that hasn’t worked either.

Please see attached a screenshot, in case helpful. This is after I have selected all speakers, applied it, experience a short period of silence and then a return to the Arc Ultra only…

You have two rooms named ‘Family Room’?  I would rename those to be unique. What speakers are setup as each room?  It looks the Roams are setup as Main Bedroom and Playroom (based on battery icons).

Also, you are using the Sonos app to group the speakers correct?  (Sorry, I’m not as familiar with the Apple screens).  You aren’t grouping speakers via airplay?

If you are grouping speakers to/with the Arc Ultra there is an option button to “Automatically” ungroup the Arc Ultra when playing TV audio. Make sure that option is turned off.

Find it at: Cog Wheel in upper right corner of App home page > Manage > Select Room with Arc Ultra.

I can’t provide a screenshot at this time as I am away from home.

Thank you. I’ve renamed as you suggest.

I also found a setting to switch off ‘Ungroup on Autoplay’ under the Arc settings.

Now all the speakers remain selected, and have graphic equalizer icons indicating they are playing.

However, the sound is still only coming from the Arc Ultra…

Seems bizarre…

The Arc and 4 other speakers are playing according to your screen shot. Touch the volume slider and volume adjustments for other 4 speakers should appear. Also for TV audio there is a 75ms delay to other speakers in a group.

Hi all. I’m still not having any luck. Any further ideas welcome.

Other things I’ve tried, to no avail:

  • Rerunnng Truplay set up.
  • Switching Truplay off.
  • Pressing and holding ‘play’ on the additional (non Arc ultra) speakers.

PS- Just to note, the app still seems to think that the sound is coming through the other speakers (an Amp and a Five..), but no sound is coming through them…
