sonos play 1 not working

My Sonos Play 1 was having trouble with Spotify. It wouldn’t play the next song and would be stuck on the previous song. I decided to unplug it and remove it from my Sonos app to re-add it.

Now, as I try to re-add it, it won’t work at all. I’ve tried factory resetting it, but even that fails. You’re meant to hold down the volume + sign at the same time as the play/pause button while plugging the device into an outlet. You continue holding until the white light starts blinking orange, and then start blinking green. It NEVER starts to blink green and I’ve held it for well over a minute…

The Sonos app identifies that there’s a Sonos Play 1 system in the area, but when I try to connect it, it never “chimes” and therefore can not be found.

I’ve had 2 Play 1 sono devices for about 10 years and tbh, it’s extremely disappointing software and always has problems.

It seems like you probably had some sort of network issue, now obfuscated by the attempt to factory reset the device. At this point, since you’ve gotten part of the way through that process, I suspect your best bet would be to call Sonos Support directly to discuss it.

When you speak directly to the phone folks, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
