Hi,

I’m really hoping someone can help as this is driving me crazy! I have a very simple setup in my office. Internet comes into my office into a TP-link AX300 router and then use a deco XE75 pro mesh network for the wireless. Wireless is turned off of the TP-link AX300 and the Deco is in wifi router mode. I have a single sonos era 100, wirelessly connected to the primary deco in the same office, only a few metres away. Signal is therefore very strong.

The problem is that spotify keep randomly pausing for 5-10 seconds and then restarting. This originally started with a sonos one gen 2 towards the end of last year. I decided to sell and replace with the sonos era 100 and all was well for a couple of months but the same problem has repeated itself over the last week.

Updates are up to date on the Deco mesh and on the sonos era 100. I’ve tried reading around this for so long and toyed with so many different settings/options that I honestly don’t know what is right and not any more!

In the sonos app, I’ve tried channels 1/6/11, made no difference.

In the deco app, the sonos is set to high priority, preferred deco of my office, preferred band of 2.4GHz

In the deco app, the IPv4 settings has primary DNS at 8.8.8.8, secondary DNS as 8.8.4.4. The sonos also a reserved IP in the deco app.

I’m really confused as to the right way to have things setup to get the sonos to work. It’s a single sonos and should be a simple setup.

Thanks in advance

You probably have created a double NAT by using both routers. Why not remove the AX3000 and just use the deco XE75 pro?

Do you NEED both routers in your office? I would suggest you use one or the other if your office space is not large enough to need both.

Why not use the deco XE75 pro as the only router instead of in AP mode.

Thanks for your response. I tried removing the TP-link AX300 router and plugging ethernet straight into my XE75 pro but the internet didn’t work. I have a FTTP full fibre connection, would that be the reason why? Wifi on the TP-link AX300 router is turned off, it only exists to bring internet into the property.

I have a feelings it to do with the two routers. While I have disabled wifi on the TP-link AX300, it’s probably doing other stuff and then interferring with the XE75 pro which is in wifi (router mode). I’m just not sure if I should be disabling more in the TP-link AX300 (if so what?) or enabling more in the TP-link AX300 and setting the XE75 pro to access point only...

  1. You should be able to copy the WAN settings from the AX300 to the XE75 and get internet.
  2. Since both are WIFI 6 is there ANY reason to have two routers?
  3. Try the EX75 in AP mode to see if that helps.

Thanks, 1 and therefore 2 would be great but I don’t know how to do that in the XE75, will have to google though I’m not sure if it’s possible

Firstly, I would recommend using de 5Ghz instead of the 2.4Ghz for your Sonos, that frequency might be overcrowded, secondly sonosnet is not supported on Era 100, therefore changing the channel won't do anything. Another advice, keep the deco mesh network in AP mode

If music stopping or skipping it means data packets are missing while they are being transmitted through the network o wireless network

Thanks though does anyone have suggestions on how to resolve please?

I currently have the deco set to Access point mode only but it’s not made any difference

Hi @rrd102

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

Sorry to hear of this issue you are having!

I think the above advice is sound, and it just sounds like you are having some trouble getting there.

Please give my article a read - especially the part about Mesh WiFi:

If you need further help after that, I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team for additional support.

I hope this helps.
