Frankly disgusted that I can’t set these up without Wi Fi, use Blu -Tooth or pair them.

Previously I had 2 powered speakers (Still have). Just connected them to a quality Blu - tooth adaptor and instant stereo connection. Totally Wi Fi independent. We can choose whether we want external services you know. Or crucially, we should be able to.

No wi fi? Then you’ve got chunks of black uselessness. I will never buy your products again - and they weren’t cheap. Give us stuff that works in any situation and stop taking the bung from Amazon and the like.  - which you clearly have.

Don’t expect anything other than a corporate speak reply so just don’t bother. Dreadful.

May be think about what a speaker should basically be able to do without the internet. It’s been an expensive and disappointing experience for me.

@jbooble

Let me get this straight...you’re upset because you didn’t perform YOUR due diligence to research what you can and can’t do with a Sonos speaker (Era 300) before your purchase?  This is not corporate speak as I’m not a Sonos employee...it’s just FACT. Click the link below. I've C/P’d the relevant information for your convenience.

You have missed my point entirely. The simple fact is that for basic functionality, for example Blu-tooth connections, Wi Fi should not be required. It’s a speaker. You seem to have jumped on this in minutes. The FACT you feel it necessary to state that you are NOT a Sonos employee lends me to think that you are. Why would you be so vehement otherwise?

OK...What is your point????

It’s clearly stated that a WiFi connection is required for the Era 300’s. The speakers are designed as WiFi wireless speakers. Bluetooth functionality is a perk. If you wanted Sonos bluetooth speakers that require no WiFi for setup; you should have purchased the Sonos Roam2.

IMO you are trying to ‘gaslight” me. Don’t blame Sonos or accuse me of being a confederate for Sonos. However, you are free to think/believe whatever you like. Therefore, I have no more time to waste in this thread.

If you are still in the return window for the Era 300’s I suggest you do so. Peace...I’m out!

The simple fact is that for basic functionality, for example Blu-tooth connections, Wi Fi should not be required. It’s a speaker.

It is not only a speaker. Any Sonos device is a computer, created to be part of a wifi multiroom sound system, using a form of Linux. So that's wifi first, bluetooth second.

Good grief. 🙄

I just bought a Bluetooth speaker. Now I find that I can’t hook it onto wifi and stream from an internet source. How can they sell Bluetooth speakers with such a ridiculous limitation? Frankly, I’m disgusted at there being such a limitation.

(I didn’t really - just presenting the counter position to the OP 😜.)
