Play1 is obsolete thanks to "improvements"

Sonos has made Play1 obsolete. I might as well throw the speakers away. They cannot be connected to wifi anymore, even after factory resets. One will work if connected by ethernet directly to the router, but the App control for start/stop, or volume is spotty at best.   I will not buy anything new through Sonos because they will eventually “improve” that to be obsolete also. All good things must come to an end I suppose.

Odd. I continue to use half a dozen or so of them without any issue, both as surround speakers and as standalone speakers.

Have you contacted Sonos Support directly to discuss your concerns?

We cannot rule out hardware failure. I recommend working with SONOS phone support. They have access to extensive diagnostic information.

Had my Play 1 10 years this month and still working perfectly, one thought is have you changed WIFI router recently as new dual band WiFi routers will try and default to 5G where the Sonos need to be setup on 2.4G, you can split the channels in your router management.
