My Sonos Play:1 is connected to my system of Sonos speakers including Beam. While it’s able to control the music (pause, play, volume) but is not broadcasting any sound. Would appreciate some help.

Does the rest of the group play sound? Will the :1 work on its own, separate from the group? What if you start the rest of the group playing and then add in the :1?

No, the Play:1 does not play on its own either.

What colour is the LED status light?

Have you tried generating a diagnostics report and contacting Sonos support?

Your post is not very detailed. Is the Play:1 a separate room or bonded as surround to the Beam? Are you using it on its own or part of a group? How can volume work if it’s making no sound? Which app are you using? Do the buttons on the speaker work? Are all devices and apps updated? What network?

Please: a lot more detail needed…

  1.  Is the Play:1 a separate room or bonded as surround to the Beam?  Ans: Separate Room
  2. Are you using it on its own or part of a group? Ans: Using it part of a group
  3. How can volume work if it’s making no sound? Ans: if I press volume up on the device, the app shows the volume bar increasing
  4. Which app are you using? Ans: The latest one - i believe its the S2
  5. Do the buttons on the speaker work? Ans: Pause/Play works. As I said before, volumes causes the volume bar on the app to increase.
  6. Are all devices and apps updated? Ans: Yes
  7. What network? Ans: Wifi

Have you looked to verify all Sonos are on the latest update?

Have you looked to verify all Sonos are on the latest update?

Already asked and answered, though a confirmation could be useful.

I saw you said they were updated, not that you’d looked at the App data to confirm they had accepted the update.

Look at the speakers status under settings, the versions are listed there.

Settings, Manage, About. You want the version,  below the Sonos OS line to match.
