Initial glitches via AirPlay

Hello,

I’m having a strange issue with my Sonos Move 2 and Roam. Whenever I turn on the speaker(s) and connect via AirPlay, my music always stutters.

However, if I play a song for about a minute via Spotify Connect and then switch to AirPlay, everything works fine.

I experience this issue regardless of which iPhone, iPad, or Mac I use.

The speakers are, of course, up to date, just like my Apple devices.

Do you have any streaming services setup on your speakers?

If not, configure Spotify to see if the issue persists. If it does, and I don’t want to say it, but its probably a network issue or a cache issue on your phone and or network.

Have you tried a network refresh and a phone reboot?

Yeah…as @Pools-3015 said it’s most likely a network issue as AirPlay piggybacks on your WiFi. Also, even though you said they are make sure all devices are updated to the latest OS including Sonos. Things change at the blink of eye these days 😂

Someday it is best to just take the easy path, get the glitch, submit a diagnostic, call Sonos and have them sort it out.

I'm decent at networking but their support saw the issue and had me fixed faster than I'd have had any hope of finding it.

If you mean in the Sonos app then no. I just use the Spotify cliënt on my devices but don’t use the Sonos app (except for changing the EQ and updating the firmware).

This problem also exists on Apple Music.

My phone is rebooted “often” (when Apple updates iOS). Although I am a network engineer, I have a very simple network setup at home (just the modem from my ISP and using the built-in Wi-Fi without any other settings changed).

Every device is on the latest iOS / iPadOS / macOS ;-)

Ah...using your ISP’s gear is possibly the issue. Especially, so since it occurs on all your devices. Out of curiosity who is your ISP?

KPN (in combination with a Box 12)

I do not know of a specific KPN outage on Sonos currently. You could try the Dutch Sonos community: https://nl.community.sonos.com
