Balance… i was looking for a balance slider for stereo ♂️
The new app is very buggy. The balance slider should be under the EQ settings. If you don’t see it, restart the app until the balance slider re-appears.
Hmm. Thanks for your advice. Closing opening app on my iphone didnt change anything i am afraid. Still no balance slider. Is it possible that it’s missing in the new app? Do you have stereo era 300 and it’s there ?

I have a stereo pair of Era 100s and I have a balance slider. Try restarting the app multiple times while checking for the balance slider after each restart.
will try and keep you posted. thank you!
Hey @GuitarSuperstar it didnt work. I tried god knows how many times. How can i report it to sonos? Any chance doing it online ? Or do i have to call Sonos support? Insuspect it’s an era 300 thing
Have you run Trueplay? I’m not sure if you have the balance control if you’ve run it, though I may be wrong.

EDIT: I’m not sure whether you can actually balance the Era 300s because of the way they are set up for Dolby Atmos. But someone might be able to confirm or otherwise. In the meantime, try what I originally wrote below….
Have you definitely got the very latest version of the app? It was updated about ten days ago, after which you need to run the system update (Settings / Manage / System Updates). It’s the only reason I can think as to why you don’t have Balance control for these speakers…
Yeah i do. Thank god i wasnt effected ao much about the app stuff (i thought) i was happy with the 4th of june update actually, it brought back some nice features. Hmm… it’s really odd, i have a single five and even that one has the balance slider
Hi @arslanelver
Thanks for your post!
We have been able to reproduce this issue in our own testing and are now investigating. Thanks for flagging!
Thank you @Corry P - much apprciated!
Hi @arslanelver et al
I am not sure when it was, exactly, but I have just found out that this issue has been resolved.
Apologies that this was not relayed to you all sooner.
I hope this helps.
Hi @arslanelver
Some more information recently came to my attention.
It is now intentional that Era 300 speakers do not have a balance control available:
As Era 300 is the first fully immersive stand-alone speaker capable of playing back many channels simultaneously (beyond the standard left/right), balance settings were a feature that made less sense for this specific product. As such, they have been removed from the app.
To be clear, an issue was found with balance sliders not showing when they should, but it was not specific to Era 300s - it was this issue that was resolved.
I hope this helps.

Which drivers are in use when two Eras are set as a stereo pair but they are only receiving a conventional stereo signal, @Corry P? Do they still send through all of the drivers? How are they “interpreting” any height data, for example, since that’s not in the date stream. And if Trueplay hasn’t been run, they have limited knowledge of a room’s acoustics.
I wanted to ask a similar question if that’s the case. I am sure upfiring speaker isnt being used on a stereo signal on a pair of era 300 but how about other drivers?
thanks
I'm old so this "how many drivers" discussion is reminding me of the Japanese speaker wars from the 70s where seeing a speaker with about a dozen drivers wasn't unusual.
Then as now the only thing that really mattered was how good did it sound. My listening got me a set of AR-3a with just 3 drivers, the sound was good and imaging better.
About impossible to do a fair HD versus Atmos test due to the different masters for each but I find that both sound good. On my 300 Pair a well done Atmos track is much more immersive but just listening to the sound and not the imaging they seem very close to my old ears.
Hopefully Sonos will get the design sorted out to be what they intended. What they intended (reportedly decided by listening panels) sounds good to us. And they can get the marketing / messaging all on the same story.

I’m not saying “I want more drivers”; l am curious which are used to be able to eliminate the need for a balance control for stereo signals.
Hi @nik9669a
I asked, but so far have not received a reply (the people I asked are very busy, to be fair).
If you have a stereo pair of Era 300s, it may be quicker and easier to try it and see.
