Can't connect play:3 and symfonisk bookshelf 1gen to new router with wifi

They made me buy a new router to my home and I can’t connect my play:3 and symfonik bookshell speakers to new wifi. The app on my iPhone does not find the speakers, it only says that can’t find a speakers.

So i reset the speakers, no help there, put a ethernet cable in and one of the speakers, play:3 starts playing, ok , that's good, but the app won’t still find it and when I unplug the ethernet cable music stops.

Elisa, finnish company says that the problem is with Sonos because my speakers are so old and the new router is new, top of the line product with 5g and 5 giga system…

What I can do next?

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

Sorry to hear of the issues you’ve had in trying to get your speakers to connect to your new router.

If you are still struggling with this, I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports.

It may help, however, to just reboot your router by switching it off for 30 seconds before trying to connect the speakers to WiFi - please try this first.

Now I got the symfonik bookshell playing too but only when the play:3 is connected with ethernet cable.

What are the WiFi settings in the router? Is it using WPA personal and not WPA enterprise?

Could you try if it works using 2.4 GHz? (Does it have same SSID for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz? If so, could you try with defining different SSID’s for them?)

Is it iPhone 16? Would Android app work if you have access to such? Or iPad app?

The iPhone app probably worked with your previous router? Does iPhone settings > WiFi > Private WiFi address > off, make any difference?

It worked great with previous router. I have a iPhone 13 and had no problem what so ever.

Yes, I have read the instructions, tried also pretty much everything but those ssid and ghz change.

 I will try that now, thank you kpr!

Changing back to 2.4ghz, not working wireless, only working with a cable.

And you cannot get the new router to work with the credentials of the old one?

Your devices very likely have the latest or at least same firmware(?)

And since the system worked with previous router, the new one likely isn’t a router that’s not supported?

Which make and model is it? (Asking because I’ll need to change, too, and will need to figure this out, too).

I got that ZTE MC888 PRO, seller says it’s one of the best ones and i think i’ll throw that thing out of the window.

Did your internet connection change at the same time? Do you now have a SIM in that router and did your previous have as well? 

I have always wondered why Sonos writes that the system would not work with LTE routers. 

Would you have a chance to call Sonos, they might be able to see something. I am not sure if the global chat support can see your system but I’d check with them if you already haven’t.

edit: I think it should work with that ZTE 5G router.

One last thing to try if you already didn’t:

would you be able to define a static IP address for the Sonos devices in the router’s settings? Likely somewhere in the DHCP settings. 
 

Just to see if the controller app then finds them any better. 

Do they show up in play.sonos.com in the browser? (Request desktop site if accessing with iPhone)
