I must say the apple music on my Arc Ultra really blew me away. One thing is not clear to me.When listening to simple stereo music the rears mimic the arc i.e. i get stereo on front and stereo on back.if i move the surround music tab to plus or minus i shift the volume from front to back. If i move te surrounds music slider to plus or minus when listening to atmos mix, what difference will it make?

In the Surround Audio settings tab in the app, the Music Level slider will increase or decrease the volume of the surrounds when playing music. Since you’re making the surrounds either louder or quieter, and that the surrounds are playing the same audio as the Arc Ultra, it’ll sound like the audio is shifting from front to back (or at least the volume is).
With that explained, when you’re playing Spatial Audio on Sonos (Atmos), the same is happening; you’re adjusting the volume of the rear channels played through surrounds.

Please note however, that this only occurs when you have the Arc Ultra bonded to Era 300s, as any other speaker that could be used as surrounds do not support spatial audio.
Surrounds do not need to support spacial audio when standalone in order to play spacial audio when bonded as surrounds with an Atmos-compatible soundbar. Any surround speaker used with an Arc Ultra, Arc or Beam (Gen2) can play spacial audio.

Thanks for the correction! I had a look around but didn’t see anything that said otherwise, so just went with what was listed as supported on the Spatial Audio support article as I don’t have a home theater setup I can test with (I also checked our blogpost and there’s nothing in there either).
I’ll mention this to the web team, maybe they can add a line on that article to explain this better.
