Had I known my new Sub wouldn't work with my set I would not have bought it. I had an effective set (zone) comprising one Five and two One SLs working harmoniously. When I tried to add the Sub to it, that wasn't allowed. I had to undo the zone, then add the Sub to the Five, but then I couldn't add the two One SLs to that zone anymore. They had to become a separate zone, which is not what I wanted. Now I have two zones in one "group" but that's not the same as one zone. I have to AirPlay to two separate devices if I want to listen to my Apple Music songs. Or manually set the two zones to play simultaneously EVERY TIME I put some music on. Very frustrating! Silly app that doesn't allow something as basic as one main speaker, two side speakers and a subwoofer to be configured as one set!

Surely you just Airplay to one room (or device) and group the other?

- Now: AirTag button > Select Sonos Zone > Open Sonos App > Click on Speaker button > Select 'Everywhere' (or Group name) > Adjust individual volumes > Hit Apply > Music Stops > Go Back to Apple Music > Hit Play > Pray that it works > Enjoy music

But if it’s such a limitation for you, take advantage of Sonos’ returns policy and send it back for a refund.

The Sub restriction for zones was detailed in the Zones announcement.
Still… no one told me that when I purchased the Sub… and why can't Sonos remove those restrictions? It can't be that hard - if a zone was possible with 1x Five + 2x One SLs, why adding a Sub is not a possibility?
Although creating a Zone sounds great it’s (IMO) geared toward large (commercial) environments as your see in the diagram below:
As an alternative, If all speakers are in the same Space (Five and two One SL’s) IMO it would be simpler to create (for example) Room A (Five) and Room B (One SL’s in stereo pair). You could add a Sub to either Room. Afterwards create a Group (Room A + Room B) and give it a name. You could experiment with locations in the Space and place the Sub for the best response.
I have two Groups setup for testing purposes. I can select either Group when I click the “Speaker Icon” in the “Now Playing” section to see the Group I want. Just remember to de-select the current Room (which in my example is Stereo) before selecting the Group and tapping “Apply”. *
BTW...the correct term is AirPlay not AirTag as the latter is an Apple Tracking device. 😊
* You have the option not to de-select the current room if you want to continue the music in that room and the selected Group.
And it gets worse… when “grouped” in two pairs, it’s not possible to control the volume of the entire set through the volume buttons in each box as it was the case with the zone. One has to adjust each pair individually. This is SOOOO annoying!
+18You should be seeing a group volume and the volume for both rooms? I’ve grouped two rooms and tapped the group. The line should represent group volume:

Thanks, buddy. That again requires me to find my phone, unlock it, Find the Sonos app, click on the set, adjust the volume, click apply, hope it works. What I was hoping for was simply being able to adjust the volume across the entire room just using the up-and-down buttons on one of the boxes as I used to when they were part of the same zone until I added a subwoofer
