Music through Beam when TV is off

So we had a Sonos 1 in our living room and bought the Beam, idea being to sort the TV sound out but also use it as an extra speaker in the living room.

From what i gather, the beam has to be as a separate ‘room’ (we’ve called it ‘TV’) and I can play music through it when the TV is on - the TV image still plays in the background. But I can’t work out how to play music through the beam whilst the TV is off?? Any help appreciated!

N.B. That we only have one Sonos 1 and it’s not set as surround!

Thanks

Just select the room "TV" in the app/controller. If the TV is playing you will get a warning out stopping the TV audio else it will just play the source you select.
