Which model do you have: the Play:1 or the One?

The Play:1 has no microphone input and can only be stereo-paired with another Play:1.

The One does have microphone input for voice control. The gen 1 is compatible with One gen 2.

You can group any of them.

There may be an app from a developer that can pair a One and Play:1.

And note that there is only one "generation" of the PLAY:1. There are two "generations" of the Sonos One.

Good answers everyone. There's a good guide here from @AjTrek1 with the technical differences. Maybe it'd be good to have a picture on there showing the differences as it's pretty easy to see when you've got the two in front of you.

Ask and it shall be granted!

Cheers!
