Hello,Every time I receive a notification that there is a new Sonos app update available, I download the update and then it fails. I use a Mac and always have to uninstall Sonos, then reinstall from the website. It’s not a big deal, but wondering if there is a fix for this? Thanks!
The lack of sensitivity of the low level volume control makes adjusting the volume at low level very difficult/impossible. We like to have music playing softly in the background at times. It is difficult to adjust the volume to a easy listening soft level. Often it is either off or too loud. I tried various methods on all the devices I own to adjust the volume and nothing gives adequate level of control. Searching here on the community for "low volume control" indicates that there are many people complaining about this problem. Why won't Sonos change the response curve of volume controls to give more granularity at lower end of curve to allow all of the Sonos customers that want to enjoy the music at a low level the ability to easily set the volume at a desired level. All of you out there that have this same request please put in a Feature Request to Sonos to "Change response curve of volume controls to give more granularity at lower end of curve" lets see if we
I have 5 Sonos players on my Virgin Media home network. Most of the time everything works well but occasionally I find one or more of the players have dropped out and disappeared from the Sonos apps. When I look at my router (Hub 2ac) device connection list it shows all the players but the ones that have dropped out are listed as connected by Ethernet whereas they are all actually on wi-fi.The correct MAC address and IP addresses are listed with the only clue to a problem being they are listed as Ethernet connected.Power down and up again on each player simply shifts them from Ethernet to wi-fi and then all is well again until the next time.I don’t think it has anything to do with IP lease time as that is set at one day but the problem might only occur every two to three weeks. Is it the hub? does anyone know?
Just wondering if anyone else feels this may be of use. I'd love there to be faster direct access to the EQ settings via the currently playing song menu. I'm often adjusting bass etc to suit varying sound qualities of different tracks. It seems a little long winded as it is.
I thought it might be interesting to compare two different strategies for getting Sonos music in your backyard. Both strategies have their positives and negatives, and what works for you is going to depend on your particular situation and needs. In order to compare them fairly, let's consider a relatively small space where a stereo pair of speakers will cover the area nicely. Cost - Advantage MOVE The cost for two Sonos MOVE's is $800. The AMP costs $600, leaving $200 for a pair of speakers, speaker wire, and potentially installation costs. Although you could put in a system for under $800, it's hard to believe you'd get the equivalent sound quality of a pair of Sonos MOVE's. One thing to consider is that you'll like need a shelf or table to place the MOVE's on, which you may or may not already have, that will add costs to the MOVE. Audio Quality - Advantage MOVE This is going to be subjective, and will depend on the quality of the passive speakers used with the AMP. However, if usi
I'm considering the new Sonos AMP, for the solely purpose of improving the speech/dialog on movies using the Phantom Center. Is it good enough to justify buying the AMP? Currently, I have an Apple TV connected to a stereo amplifier and a pair of bookshelf speakers. I'd love to add a centre channel to improve dialog. Just not sure if the Sonos Amp will be a huge improvement or if I'd be better off with a AV receiver.
Sonos are no longer a young start up, that has not had time to think about repair. Sonos, like all electronic products, occasionally one goes wrong. Your products are expensive to buy, and you could set up a repair workshop and repair them (or even contract it out). I'm sure this could be a revenue centre not a cost centre. I am a long time user with a reasonable investment in Sonos (seven units) - or six working units and a faulty one! I used be proud of my Sonos system, and promote the Sonos products amongst my friends, but this looks like you don't care about your users. If users don't feel valued, they stop caring about the company. How many other users have faulty units at home?
In a separate, and disparate thread, it was brought to light from a Community Manager that Sonos arbitrarily eliminated the ability to crossfade music playing through Spotify Connect. This seems to have occurred in version 10.4. There are many of us hoping that, unless there is a security measure associated with this, that it returns in future versions. Thank you.
Is there any plan to introduce a Chrome extension to control Sonos?
Got a notice on my iPhone today that Sonos is no longer going to make streaming from my iPhone an option for some bs reason. It will require you to stream from a Mac or a computer or buy a hub. Some BS reason that it's compatibility issues with newer iphones/software. Thank God I bought them two days ago and am returning them. It's 2019 Sonos - is it really that hard to create a software patch? I was OK putting up with the WiFi only, but now likely to go to Harman Kardon and stream via bluetooth and not be stuck in 2014 WiFi. So dumb.
Initially purchased the IKEA Symfonisk speakers which worked great. Recently tried to incorporate the volume control from IKEA as well and have had nothing but frustration. Plugged in the TRÅDFRI gateway and it wanted an update to add the audio control device. Try to update the app and it say the gateway is already up to date… Saw some chatter from 2018 that certain networks don’t play nice with the gateway. I have a prouser network set up with Ubquity products. I physically go to friends plug in the gateway to get it updated. Go home and now the IKEA app won’t find the any of my 8 sonos products. This has been a very frustrating experience. Anyone else run into this?
Because we have it on a bedroom, we'll use the sleep timer every time: https://support.sonos.com/s/article/452?language=en_US My wife ordered a chance to remember the last timer, so Next time I put music on play, it's on. Our sleep timer is set up in 30 minutes. Every night we'll set it again. It could be that he remembers the situation last and change when I change. I guess it's not all like that so. Maybe add a slider - ‘Remember my last sleep timer’. And then every time I put the music playing, it automatically started. What do you think of such thought?
At some point I added two sonos speakers and created a 2nd "living room" How do I combine them to have one room?
I was hoping to get a discussion started on what you could accomplish using splitters or switch in a setup where HDMI-ARC is used. Consider a general setup involving a source (streamer, cable/sat box, game console, etc) connected to video display (TV or projector) and audio equipment (Sonos Amp or Beam). HDMI cables are used to connect a source to a display and then again to connect the display to audio (two way communication). Splitters and switches can easily be used between source and display because it's one way communication, but what about between the display and the audio where two way communication takes place? I would think that you could use a switch (or matrix) in this situation as long as the connection was always one display and one audio device at a particular time. Would two way communication work as expected or would the handshaking getting mixed up? Would it only work if the switching occurred between two idential devices on the audio side (2 Sonos amps for examp
Hello I not trade up has been announced does this mean the connect and zp90 are shortly to be unsupported
We live in Missouri and have a large backyard area. We just installed a big walkout deck with Raintight underdecking, which should keep that area pretty dry. I also have good wifi out there. It is completely shaded at all times, so there would be no direct sunlight. If I were to put the Connect Amp into a place where it cannot get wet, how worrisome is the extreme cold and hot temperatures? In the past, we've had our Amp in our basement, but this is a new house (to us) and getting the Amp inside is not going to be easy. Wondering if storing it under the deck is an option.
I am very excited to try the new Sonos AMP but dont understand how to drive a center channel. Under the description it states you can have a phantom center channel but is this a phantom using the L and R or can it actually drive a center channel speaker across the R and L outputs?
I have been using my ZP90/”Connect” for at least the past five years to direct the Sonos signal to my NAD integrated amplifier (3120) so I can listen to Sonos-sourced content through the speakers attached to the amp (B&W 686s plus subwoofer). I simply use RCA cables to connect the line-out jacks on the Connect to a line-in terminal on the NAD.I’m now considering trading up to the Sonos Port under the new trade-up program. Will I be able to have the same setup with the Port that I now have on the Connect? Thanks for any and all advice.. Howard
It would be nice to be able to adjust playback speed for podcasts and audiobooks.
I would like a method to keep track of recently added music. I used to do this with my CD's. Instead of immediately filing new CD's with my existing CD's, I would leave them in a pile next to the CD player for a few weeks. The new music would get heavier play than my older CD's. I used to leave them out until I had listened to them a number of times. It would be nice to create an electronic way to do the same thing.
Hi Sonos Community, Does anyone know how to use apple home kit's automation feature for a Sonos Beam. I'd like to be to create an automation that play music at a certain time, or turn off the Apple TV at a certain time. My Sonos Beam is listed in the home automation but I can't do anything with it. The speaker icon stays greyed out. Any links to articles or videos regarding this topic are greatly appreciated. Luis
For everyone who's looking to extend their existing Sonos setup with SYMFONISK speakers or is just starting with Sonos/SYMFONISK, I've setup quite an extended list of IKEA SYMFONISK-product codes and information about their availability for various international IKEA locations such as Europe, UK, US and Canada to name a few. If this information interests you, you can head over to the following Sonos-reddit post* I've made: https://www.reddit.com/r/sonos/comments/ci20ww/product_codes_ikea_symfonisk/ ...as it's way to much info for me to put on this forum (my free time is precious). And I'm not sure if that's wanted, desired or appreciated by the Sonos community mods. Ans as I also believe this is more fitting to do on Reddit than here on this community forum. 😀 Anyway, this topic can of course be used to share your experiences regarding SYMFONISK products and their availability, your experience getting them and how they fit with existing Sonos setups. *(will be updated as more info
Sonos controller app (10.5) on Catalina (10.15.1) cannot connect to my Sonos system (an “old” play 1 and play 3).I can do the more options thing, which opens the setup dialog. I can press the pause/volume up combo on the speaker and get it to connect. But after clicking ok, nothing.Interestingly, the Spotify mac app can still connect and play music on the one of the two sonos speakers. All very curious.
Has Sonos yet created a way for long-time users to either recycle or trade-in in their old Sonos devices, i.e. ZP100's, for newer ones?
Hello Sonos community! I'm fairly new to vinyl collecting and analog sound. I invested quite a bit of money into Sonos a while before vinyl started growing on me. I currently have a sound bar, and 2 play 3's in a surround sound configuration in my living room. I have a pro-ject turntable currently just running some old bookshelf speakers. I bought a connect:amp to hook the turntable up to. Sound quality is great, but I was hoping to push it a little further. I ordered a tube amplifier online. My question was if I run the record player to the tube amp, then into Sonos connect:amp, would I get any sound quality benefits? From either wired speakers connected to connect:amp or more specifically my Sonos speakers?
