I see requests and non-committal responses regarding voice control for BBC sounds going back many months. Surely this is a central service for many users, in the UK at least. Is there any likelihood that Sonos will get round to supporting this in the foreseeable future?

Hi @simonA500

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

I’m afraid all you will get is non-committal responses as we moderators do not have the authority to say one way or another whether BBC Sounds will be supported by Sonos Voice Control, but I personally think it is very unlikely to come before SVC is actually supported in the UK, which it is not, at present (though it will work in any country as long as it is spoken to in English or French).

Amazon’s Alexa can be run on the same Sonos speaker concordantly with SVC, and has BBC Sounds support (if you add the BBC Sounds Alexa skill) - if you want to use a voice command to play BBC stations on your Sonos speaker(s), that is the only way currently possible.

I am sure that when full SVC support comes to the UK that BBC Sounds will be considered, but I have no idea what technical challenges may appear, so I cannot say one way or another whether it will work one day or not.

I've marked this thread as a feature request and it will be seen by the relevant teams for consideration. Keep the ideas coming!

I hope this helps.
