Hey everyone,

I hope someone can give me some advice concerning using Sonos voice control to move music between speakers.

I used to have one Era 100 in the kitchen and one Era 300 in the lounge and I could move music easily by saying “hey Sonos, move music to Era 100” for example.

I have now added a second Era 100 in the bedroom and whenever I give the command Sonos will ask me “do you mean Kitchen Era 100 or Bedroom Era 100” to which I respond and then nothing happens.

I’ve tried playing around with different variations of room names and even named Bedroom Era 100 and Kitchen Era 100 but nothing works.

Here’s my current set-up:

Can anyone help me out with what I’m doing wrong? I can of course switch the music within the app but sometimes I don’t want to have to faff around with the app when a voice command should be sufficient.

Have you tried using the room names for the rooms you want to stop and to continue the play, instead of going through the question-and-answer process?

Hi, thanks for replying. I’ve tried saying “hey Sonos, move music from kitchen to lounge” speaking to my lounge Era 300 and I get “I can’t find that content” as a reply. If I just say “hey Sonos, move music from kitchen” it just starts playing random music it’s found from my default provider Apple Music.

It will work fine if I say to my kitchen Era 100 “move music to Era 300” because there is only one Era 300.

If I say to my Era 300 “move music to Era 100” I will be asked whether I want kitchen or bedroom and no matter what I respond I’ll just get an error tone and nothing happens.

Like I said; it would work when I only had one of each speaker but since adding another Era 100 it cannot differentiate between them no matter how I name the rooms.

I’m guessing, to try and analyse the issue: which room are you in when you speak to command? In the kitchen to move it from the kitchen seems logical, in the same way grouping needs a group “master” when you add rooms to the group.

If instructing Sonos voice control on kitchen Era 100 to “move music to bedroom” I get “as you like” and plays some random music (still only on kitchen speaker).

if instructing Sonos voice control on kitchen Era 100 to “move music to bedroom Era 100” I get “do you want to play in the bedroom or in the kitchen?” when I answer either “bedroom” or “bedroom Era 100” nothing happens in the bedroom but the kitchen Era 100 plays random music.

Both examples are giving voice commands to the kitchen speaker which has the music I wish to move to another room.
