sonos s2 controller app on android and running Apple music app within S2 app. Is anyone able to not have tracks drop and stop playing with new Arc Ultra, Era's 2 era 300's, and sub 4? i cannot do. If zi play just my old play 1 speakers there is no issue. Al sound played from my TV only plays fine, no drops, that includes Amazon music, Spotify. zpandora. Apple music is not availabe on Google TV as an app unfortunately.
In addition, my ARC Ultra is currently hardwired to my wifi router with an ethernet cable.
I've gone through the frustration of having to power off my router and my all my speakers. I've also done multiple resets among all my speakers, and reconfiguing.
I have a case number open already with support
I’ve seen this with the Arc Ultra before—it’s a known issue where the Android S2 app can’t control music even though it’s playing. It’s not on your end—it’s a bug in the app.
Some people have had better luck after updating both the app and speaker firmware, but the real fix is still pending from Sonos. For now, you can try rebooting the app or your phone, or use the web app as a workaround.
Hope they release a patch soon so things go back to normal!
Thanks Emilia, I totally agree. I have an android phone, checking on my wife's apple s2 app on apple phone.
Obviously it's app issue S2 on phone. not wifi network issue.
Just bought all the new Sonos equipment last 2 weeks. Been a nightmare troubleshooting
I don't know if this is you but I had mine hooked to Verizon fios and using wifi extenders ( erro ) and was having same issues I had to disconnect from router and use extenders only and drop issue went away but like I said that was my issue. your Sonos may be trying to connect to more than one wifi and causing connection problems. GOOD LUCK !!! PS SONOS WORKS BETTER WITH APPLE DONT KNOW WHY BUT I HAVE IOS WIFE HASE ANDROID.
Hi Stan, my ISP is optimum in small community near payson az. I actually do have an extender I could try, but have not since all the sonos support says it causes .ore issues. I will be trying the performance today with my wife's apple phone, and also via my laptop using sonos website instead of my android app.
Thanks so much for the reply. I want to use my apple music app from within Sonos s2 on my phone since I get the highest quality atmos performance this way.
So weird how I can play all music in Amazon music, Spotify. Pandora, if launched from the Google TV apps and not from my Android phone.
My older sonos play one speakers are in there own virtual room, they work flawlessly on all streaming services even launched fron within the S2 controller on my android phone. Never a song drop.
Has to be the app.
Keep in mind the controller app has nothing to do with playing music. It is like the remote for your TV, issuing commands that the commanded device then follows.
You can see this, start streaming something and turn off your controller device and it keeps playing.
Ok well, I have same issue with play.sonos.com on my laptop, and running apple music from my wife's apple phone within s2 app. Track starts then within minutes it stops, always able to restart again, but just continues to stop.
Trying extender next.
Nightmare.
Makes sense, with the ‘app’ being only a remote control, that you’d experience the same thing, under the assumption the network difficulty you’re running in to is between the speakers and the network.
I’d start with a full refresh, by unplugging all your Sonos devices from power, then reboot your router. Wait two minutes, then plug back in the Sonos devices.
If that doesn’t fix the issue, and I think it will, I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here, they get sensitive about GDPR.
There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.
When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
I thought I’d run tests on this issue.
