As Smartthings is a cloud based API, I’m not sure that this is a Sonos decision.

Sorry what is the request here? They already seem integrated:

That is the Cloud API integration I believe.  The OP wants local control.

Ask Samsung, it’s their integration.

SmartThings has the ability to run automation locally or in the cloud.

When it comes to building integrations with Samsung SmartThings, the responsibility is almost always on the product manufacturer or service provider, not Samsung or the end customer.

Why they do it:

-They own the device firmware, APIs, and cloud services

-They can ensure secure authentication and data handling

-They control feature parity and user experience

-They can keep the integration updated as SmartThings evolves

-Samsung provides the SDKs, APIs, and certification process, but does not build custom integrations for third-party products.

My sonos speakers show up as devices in rooms on smartthings app. Not that I can see any potential need to try to control them through that app.

The top use case for this that comes to mind is exposing features like

  • Night Sound
  • Speech Enhancement
  • Pause
  • Play
  • Volume control

Being able to build these into routines would be great

Please integrate Sonos with Samsung SmartThings locally.

They do, the SmartThings Sonos integration is LAN based, so local execution, and works well. Not functionally 100% but adequate for general use and reliable.

Does need cloud to link to Sonos and retrieve speakers and favourites ect. but after that it is local LAN communication and routine execution.

You will need an additional driver to access the first 2 points on your list (see and search the SmartThings forum and dependent on bar model) but all others you list, and more, are covered by the stock ST driver - I use it a lot 👍

@User117655 you seem very knowledgeable about the integration details - which API set does the integration use? Night Sound and Speech Enhancement are easily available via UPnP on every HT-capable device. Is the source to the integration available anywhere?

@controlav (& @Rastaman777 ) I think it would be best if you asked these questions over in the SmartThings Community, there are a lot of knowledgeable people there too but basically yes, I believe all the Samsung SmartThings stock drivers are available in a GitHub repo. The Sonos driver uses the Sonos direct api so no cloud dependencies beyond initial linking of accounts. The implementation may be dependent on the ST hub type that you have in use though. Again the community will know 🤓

Their stock driver does not expose the two functions you mention but there is a community written driver available that does, but for Play Bar only I think. Again the info and channel link will come up on an ST Community search.
