Hi, my Sonos Port is connected via Ethernet cable to my router. However, when I check the “Connection” setting, the option to disable WIFI is grayed out. It is like it doesn’t know it is wired to the router. Any ideas? Thanks!

i found my solution. It turns out there are two Ethernet ports on the Port. Once I hooked the cable into the second one, the app read the Ethernet connection.

First it is unlikely that you want to disable the radio in your Port, maybe reconsider that?

If you power-cycle the Port and the connection isn’t seen I’d try a different Ethernet cable.

I hear you. I am considering switching to T-Mobile Home Internet. Everything I read is that you initially need to connect a Sonos device via Ethernet to get it to show up on T-Mobile WIFI. I want to do a test to see if that actually works. Thanks!

Hmmm. I use T-Mobile’s WiFi, I don’t remember having to do so at initial setup, although I think I eventually moved to a ‘wired’ setup with a BOOST. But it certainly doesn’t hurt to set up the system initially wired, and later remove the wire, either.

Interesting. Did your Sonos connect to T-Mobile WIFI without any problems? Perhaps it is an issue they resolved.

Heh. Glad I read both, I was about to type a reply… happy you got your system working. Networking is sometimes not much fun…probably as I don’t think about it when it works, and am frustrated by it when it doesn’t, the way I think it should. But Sonos really needs a well set up network to hang on to, since it exercises it in full.

I had the same problem. I originally setup the Port using wi-fi, after which it did not recognise the Ethernet cable when plugged in, it had the same greyed out wifi option and said the port was offline. Once the cable was removed, it worked fine over wifi.

I factory reset the Port with the Ethernet cable hard wired and then it was recognised. Might be a coincidence but i tried this several times with the same results.
