Recently got an ultra and era 300s coming from Arc and Sonos ones.
mostly do movie watching but on occasions like to play some music. Arc and ones sounded pretty good but I’m disappointed by the era 300s for music playback, find them very tinny sounding and don’t sound as good as the ones I had. Don’t quite understand why they sound so poor, for the cost of them I thought they would excel at all content thrown at them. I’ve tinkered with settings but of ended up setting them to ambient rather than full play back. Has anyone experience of this? Know why they are so poor.

In Ambient mode they and any other Sonos, even a Five, will be very unimpressive due to the constraints that mode puts on them.

Did you leave them set to Ambient or set them to Full?

For me Ambient isn't great while Full provides room filling sound

At the moment still on ambient and just let the ultra and sub to the work. Will experiment a bit more over the weekend. Just not overly impressed with them yet.

Also the front speaker in the 300s are disabled when they are bonded as surrounds.  When watching a movie or listening to music you don’t want direct sound from the rear speakers.  They are meant to expand the sound field.  As a stereo pair they are awesome.
