Hi,

Anyone experience any changes withthier APP and System just by changing DNS in router? I basically changed out Spectrums DNS to Cloudflare and it killed the functionality of my app and system.

Thoughts?

Thx

I’ve been using Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1, 1.0.0.1) for a few years without causing any Sonos issues.

But changing the DNS in the router might sometimes require a router reboot - have you tried doing that since changing the DNS?

I just tried the cloudflare primary/secondary DNS servers 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 and the Sonos App still works fine here.

The Sonos App also works here with Google’s public DNS servers too… 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4

Hi,

I did Gibson Research to check the fastest DNS in my area and Level 3 popped up .I added and it works. Cloudflare still breaks it.

Ill keep the forum updated with google soon.

Thx

I also have not had any issues with Cloudflare DNS, I use 1.1.1.2 for added malware protection.

Your knowledge level may be way above this but just checking - you didn’t add an extra period after the end of the DNS address, and/or (depending on how the DNS is entered in the router backend) no spaces if also including a secondary DNS - i.e. 1.1.1.1,1.0.0.1

Got to love those <insert keyword here> articles 😂

I bet they provide a very similar looking page for a range of isp/dns combinations. Or Spectrum are searched so often they just focus on them. Was so tempting to click the article titled “Is spectrum.net real: unveiling the truth” at the bottom of the page 😂🤣

The cookie list is um.. interesting. They also have a different meaning of legitimate interest than I do 😂

I just see the space in between spaces myself - guess my blockers hide a good many things that I don’t wish to see. Sorry though if the ads on that site got in the way.

Yes, changing DNS settings can sometimes impact app and system functionality. Cloudflare's DNS might have different settings or restrictions compared to Spectrum's, which could affect how your app connects or functions. You might want to check the app's network requirements or try reverting to the previous DNS settings to see if that resolves the issue. If the problem persists, consider reaching out to the app’s support for specific guidance.

Hope this helps!
