Question

Faint audio from Era 100 and Pro-Ject turntable

I bought a bundle from Sonos: Era 100 and Pro-Ject turntable with all the cables and adapters.

It's all set up but the audio from the Sonos speaker is VERY faint and also sounds like static. I have double and triple checked the cables to make sure they are all plugged in tightly and correctly. I am using the “Line In” source via the Sonos app. I have played with all the audio settings and nothing makes a difference. Tried multiple records as well.

Called Sonos and the wait time to speak with someone is an hour. Hoping someone can help?

If the turntable has a built in preamp, go to the settings of the 100 and in the line in menu look for source level and select the level that sounds right to you.

If it does not have a built in preamp, you will need to get one for the TT to sound right.

Double check the internal pre-amp settings to make sure it is on. It amplifies the signal but also applies the RIAA equalization curve that is essential to getting decent sound.

You can try toggling it on and off to make sure it is working.

Hi Stanley, how do I double check the internal pre-amp settings?

Never mind! I found the switch on the side of the pre amp. Thanks!
