📲 New App Update Available! 🔊

Related content:Software

Hey all! This morning, we deployed an update for iOS and Android. See below for a summary of what's changed. If you'd like a look at what has changed over the last few months, check out our App Release Notes here, as well as our System (Player) Release Notes here.

As with most updates, this will be a Phased Rollout, which means that you may (or may not) get the update or features pushed to your system. Some iOS users have sidestepped this in the past, by going directly to the App Store. If you still do not see the update, try refreshing the App Store by pulling down (as if you were refreshing a page) on the Account page that shows all your pending app updates.

What’s New

Android & iOS - 83.00.36

  • Quickly access EQ controls when changing volume with the new EQ Shortcut. Enable this in App Preferences.

  • Content services can now provide additional options in the “More” menu across the Sonos app.

    • Browse by artist or album

    • Start Radio for a similar artist or album

    • Create or edit a playlist within the content service

Note: These options will differ based on the music service being used.

iOS only- 83.00.36

  • Adjust the volume from anywhere on the slider for easier control, especially at lower volume levels.

As always please don’t hesitate to share your feedback (about the new features or anything else), as we genuinely appreciate it!

Thanks.   It would be good to get an acknowledgement of the issue however, then we might at least know they were thinking about correcting it.  It’s a significant loss for me personally and I recall many other users valued this function the last time we lost it.

So I may have been a bit hasty on my post about the loss of shuffle on local music libraries, so apologies.

If I select ‘Songs’ , the app will display my entire song list.  Play then triggers the list to start playing from the top of the list.  I can then shuffle to get random play. So the functionality is there, kind of.    Doesn’t seem to work any other way.     I’m pretty sure it used to be slicker than this (am I imagining this?) but at least I can get a random playlist generated out of a massive library which is what I like to have.

The play & shuffle buttons are at the top of the Songs list in the android S2 controller. But they are not at the top of the Songs list in the S2 iOS controller. I don’t remember if they used to be.

When you say “Songs list” are you referring to the queue?  On the IOS queue screen the Shuffle, Repeat & ( 3 dots ) are on the top of the screen.  There is no Play/Pause button on the queue screen; Should be one though.

No, we’re referring to the Songs list. Music Library → Songs. Useful if someone wanted to shuffle play their entire library. Not something I’ve ever done. I don’t think I’ve even looked at the Songs list until now.

I don’t have any controls on my Songs screen ( IOS up to date ).  If I hold down on Music Library - Songs the only option is Play Now.

The iOS S2 app doesn’t have them. But the android S2 controller does. It has the Play and Shuffle buttons at the top of the Songs list.

Thanks both.  I think you’ve identified what’s going on here.  MoPac is right  - there is no shuffle / play on the Songs screen.  All you can do is Play Now.  Once the song queue is playing, then you can shuffle (using the buttons MoPac highlighted in his earlier post).   This is what I’m doing to get a random playlist.

But as kdowling has highlighted, Android S2 users can do this direct from the Songs list.  Lucky them !!!

one day for iOS users, maybe……

Some retro info btw… 😉

Old S2 app for iOS definitely had a Play and Shuffle button on top of songs list.
So come on Sonos… do it again! 😎

And don’t hit me… yes, there‘s a cover disaster on my library. 😂

Thanks Schlumpf……..and I suffer with that library cover disaster as well!!!!  Iterations of iTunes  and OS updates over the years have scrambled my library 🤦‍♂️……but strangely not in all applications 🤷‍♂️!
